Iray Render Crash With Large Scenes

My iray renders crash a lot when my scene has 1 or 2 too many characters. I have Intel i7, 16GB DDR4, GeForce 1080Ti which has 11GB of VRAM. In my test case scene I have the following:
- 5x Genesis 8 characters with basic clothing/hair
- 1 HDRI light
- 1 simple mesh light
- No other props or objects
I tried enabling/disabling Optix cpu acceleration, and I have only GPU selected for the render device. When I try the Iray preview or render, it will take about 3 minutes to load, then the video card fails forcing me to reboot. Is there a way to prevent DazStudio from crashing with large scenes? I know with 3Delight there was a trick to lower the bucket size but this is not used with Iray. If I delete 1 character, it renders fine with no crashes. When I watch the process in the prossess manager, the memory just keeps climbing above 15-16GB until it crashes. Any help is appreciated.

In my case, Iray render crashed because there was not enough of RAM memory (1 character + props use 8-9 GB of RAM, my computer gets 12 GB).
So I increased the swap memory to 16 GB in Windows 10, now it is stable.

I set my virtual memory to the following:
Unfortunately it is still running out of memory unless I remove a character. Thanks for the tip though, this is something that will be useful to do anyway.

If you have GPU only checked, the amount fo swpa memory will not matter. Everything will load onto the GPU and either begin to render or terminate the render if yo do not have enough Vram. Use GPU-Z to really see what your video card is doing. The Process Manager won't help you.
There are way to reduce texture both manually and with product in the store. https://www.daz3d.com/scene-optimizer
