What am I doing wrong with the Iray addon?

I'm new at this (obviously), but I'm learning new things all the time, thanks to this forum. I hope you can help me solve this, for me, mystery.
I bouth West Park earlier, and did a few renders. Trying to figure out the lighting and stuff. Anyway, a few days ago, I found an addon for West Park, and bought it.
Not sure how to use it, but I loaded my old scene (that had some added walls), and then went to the new iray version and double clicked on it. (the one without the bulb)
It didn't say anything, so I rendered a test, and it looked slightly different so I thought I had done it right.

I the turned left and started on this window. After about an hour I had a look, and, well, how do I describe it? I can't really, so it was hard to know what to search for.
I render on that computer for 8 hours, so this was an early look at it, but would it really change that much? It just gets better after many hours right?

Hope you have some ideas, cause I'm completely lost. smiley

EDIT. I will start it again, and let it run for 8 hours. Just to make sure.

I suspect yuou hae ended up with two copies of the models in exactly the same position in the scene. Try loading the Iray version into an empty scene - if it loads, that will be your issue, if it gives an error it's probably just materials and something else must be going on.

OK. I did load it one time, but it was pitch black, so I assumed it wasn't right. And also in my first picture there, I had added some doors and windows, so I hoped it would work this way. And before I start rendering, it looks OK. But I will try it, thanks! Patience is something I don't have, but I guess I will have to learn, since it takes hourse to see some results, hehe.

When that happens, usually either the camera default position happens to be inside an object in the scene, or the scene was saved with the camera Headlamp switched off. In the first case, try moving the camera a little bit, in the second case, toggle the preview lighting (ctrl-L). Sometimes you might need to do both.

Note that you can check in the Scene pane to see if you have one (or more!) copies of everything in your scene.

Well, I got the scenes/props mixed up a bit when I said it was black. When I chose the correct one, it wasn't. But it happens sometimes, and I found yesterday that I could choose not to show the preview lighting. (I think that's what I found anyway) There's a lot of basic stuff that you don't know about in the beginning. But I learn something almost every day now, and that's pretty cool. I mean, I didn't even know that I could change the time settings! I hate being new at the job, but that's something you can't really skip.

In this particular case, it was a duplicate, must've been. I never thought to check for duplicates, but when I loaded the correct version in the addon section, the render was fine. I realize lighting is very important, and in time that will get better. Now that I have started with these scenes, I will continue with the same settings. It will take too long to start over on my computer. I'm using the renders for a game, but not the whole game, so I think it will be OK to have it a bit grainy this time. For the next game after that, I will have improved.

Thank you for helping out. I very much apreciate it! yes
