Moving multiple content libraries

  • I have a somewhat related issue and question.  I want to migrate my content to a new network share.  My current content of several thousand items is divided among 32 subdirectories, much as others have described here.   Is there any way of doing this short of plodding through the DIM install page, item by item, clicking on the show file list for each item, selecting those items having a common install subdirectory, unistall the batch, and then reinstalling them to my new network share?  It sure would be nice if DIM allowed for a filter based on the UserInstallPath VALUE variable that is stored in each of the DIM manifest files.  Failing that it would help even to display the value of that variable in the show details panel (so I wouldn't have to click on the file list button to find that information).   If someone has a better way of doing this I'd like to hear about it.

I've split this to its own thread since it isn't really related to the original.

You could just copy the existing folders across and use a manual search-and-replace on the manifests to update their paths. However, the feature you want does already exist http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/install_manager/referenceguide/interface/filter_field/advanced_filtering#path

  • Thanks.  It took quite a while before I discovered that my original post had been moved and replied to.  In the mean time I accidently discovered the feature you refer to.  After spending a long time plodding item by item through my DM install panel, my fingers got twitchy and I accently right clicked on an item.  Up popped a menu I had never seen before.  It allowed me to set the filter to the install path of that item.  After than my task was significantly easier.
