Was Genesis 2 and V6 Rushed, Where is The Girl 5

Daz has me really dizzy, I am here waiting for The Girl 5 and they pull out Genesis 2 and V6 which are really confusing. I really don't know how to feel about this whole thing. So far I see nothing that entices me to go ahead and spend any money on a new Generation of products when I have only just begun to have fun with the previous one. I just Got Freak 5 and David 5, The Girl 5 looks like it may not even be, this is the first time I was actually looking forward to seeing what Daz does with her. What is and where is the Genesis 2 base. Is it some how already in my runtime, all I see in the store are the female morphs and V6. I also feel as if it was rushed. Is or was anyone else looking forward to seeing the girl 5? Will she be released as the Girl 6?

Also there are a few things that still are not possible with Genesis, Mertail, Centaur for example

Will the previous genesis 1 morphs even work on Genesis 2?

Genesis 2 is in the Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials which you should find in your product library

DAZ's business model is to sell content. Perhaps they have made improvements with this release but I'm not interested. Heck, I still play with M4 and his family. I have a very few Genesis or M5 generation characters but I'm not really interested in using them. So of course I have absolutely no interest in Genesis2 and V6 family.

There comes a point of diminishing returns. I'm not about to buy into a new family when I haven't exhausted what the grandparent family can do. How many customers have reached the burn-out point like me?

But the vendors will probably jump on this and drop the Genesis and V5 family like a hot potato because now they can sell yet another remake of their same old stuff. Does anybody see the elephant in the room?

How many casual customers are really really interested in forking out another $500 for tiny improvements. As one approaches perfection it comes slower and with more effort. Somewhere, the customers have to draw a line and decide if they're just playing and their results are good enough, or if they really think the technical improvements will be sufficient to overshadow their skill (or lack thereof) and thrust fame upon them.

The best piano in the world ain't worth squat if you can't play it. 8-o

Where is The Girl 5? Vickie has her bound and gagged in the Marketing Department.
Seriously, what do you think is going to make more money for Daz?
    If you think I'm cynical...

I'm sad about a lack of Kids 5.
    And Girl 5.
    And young child 5.
    And toddler 5.
    And baby 5.
And crusty, stooped-over old guy 5.
    And bee-hive clad, hunched-over old lady 5.
    Lap dog 5.
    Fuzzy cat 5.
    Cow 5.
    Other animals 5.
    Other toons 5.

And how about more of the old clothes updated for Genesis 1? I thought they would go through all the major old V4/M4/V3/A3/M3/D3/H3 Platinum Club clothes and update them, like Edwardian Suit, etc. Autofit for those long jackets and skirts stinks.

I am have been super happy with Genesis 1 since freak 5 and Dave 5 came out but there is a little bit of detail still missing that I would love to see and that is a more developed and more male options for the abdominal region and chest and serratus anterior.

Honestly, even I understand the rush to release the Gensis 2 and perilous lost sight of the idea of the Genesis project, which is to create a basic mesg without sex, from which to create a wide variety of characters. I do not understand why take a step back, to again separate into male and femmmina the Genesis, and hanging out with Victoria 6. Of course, there was the whole family to converitre with Girl 5 and company, so if you really wanted to, they could still squeeze Genesis for some, without going out with this idea.
Although I sincerely want to fool with the aggressive again just as they have the same names or types of characters, the new characters of their Genesis have nothing to envy to the various Victoria or Girl. Take for example, Hitomi, perfect for manga, or Nata that I believe can be used in place of The Girl if you want to have a cartoon character with a big ledge and shapes to pin up. So the choice is there, without resorting to the glories of the past.

    Edit:
    I hate google translator.

I feel it was a bit rushed to release V6 so soon. The selling point of Genesis was that "one-size fits all", and it worked. They released some impressive figures (latest that I got was Stephanie 5 and David 5). I'm not impressed by this milking scheme. My concern is that they're getting too far ahead of their customers, who very much like Genesis as is.

Completly agree, especially the part about getting too far ahead of their customers. That describes how i'm feeling.

After a nights sleeping, i'm actually thinking about returning the bought G2/V6 products....this would be the second time in 4 years i've ever returned a product.
    - Because it feels way to soon and have to much genesis content that i can not use (especially all the morphs etc).
    - And do not want to start investing (at this time) in a completly new figure

Despite i actualle really like the V6 character...Let see after the weekend what will happen.

V6's face looks quite a bit like V5. I wonder if a similar morph for Genesis 1 could be created (at least for the face) just with some simple dial spinning. As far as the "realism" of V6's back & torso, maybe a Zbrushed morph of Genesis 1 (really V5) could achieve that as well.

I hope The Girl 6 is a new look entirely. That same morph has been used on 3 generations, and can be ported to Genesis 2, so we don't really need it again. I would love if they included a few or at least 2 styles. My personal preference would be a Bruce Timm styled morph and a more realistic style like Young Justice or something like that. So, cartoon and more realistic cartoon. But that is me.

...do I think all this was a bit "sudden"? Yes.

...do I feel more could have been done with the original Genesis? Yes.

A lot of people here know how vocal I have been about this, to the point of overstepping the bounds at times.

However, I've seen a forthcoming product for this new incarnation of Genesis which has seriously made me rethink my position.

...for now, as Stan Lee would say, "nuff said."

Yeah, I've done my fair share of being a "gobby git" in other threads despite the fact I do appreciate the high quality of G2F/V6/Gia.

I don't have the source at my fingertips, but I do recall it was officially confirmed that no characters are ever considered permanently discontinued, but not all characters will make it into every generation of figure.

We will be getting Girl 6 on the G2F platform, this is confirmed via details and promos contained on some products that have been recently released albeit no official statement has been made.

    http://www.daz3d.com/hongyu-s-bikini-for-v6

One thing this does make me curious about is if that means something we got for Generation 5 won't be updated into a Generation 6 version e.g. S5 or A5 ...or maybe there will be versions of all characters to eventually encourage as many people as possible to adopt Genesis 2.

    Exactly!

I've said my pieces before so I will not re-hash the details.
But now I'm in the weird place where I don't support Genesis 2 and I'm afraid to sink any more money into Genesis 1.
So by some weird formula I'm no longer supporting much of anything, beyond Tomalin and Stonemason, really.

    *shrugs*

    So be it.
I'm sure I'll catch up with DAZ's pace and Genesis 3 next year as well.

I'm sticking with Genesis 1. I liked the concept of Genesis as a morphable unimesh for which all clothes fit. My characters are never naked and rarely scantily clad so the advances in Genesis 2 are going unappreciated by me.

If DAZ backtracks and makes more major morphs (like they did with young teens, david, hiro, etc.) for Genesis, I'll totally be on board with that. I'm not putting a dime into Genesis 2 unless a miracle happens.

So, if perchance they are reading this, I would love to see the following morphs/rigging overhauls for Genesis 1. (hey, let me dream here - lol)
    The Girl 5 (less cartoonish)
    Gia 5
    A Sarsa/Thorne/Handspan Kids 5 - 8-year-old
    A Sarsa/Thorne/Handspan Kids 5 - 4-year-old
A "Real Woman" 5 (who is a little more voluptuous - aka at the upper end of normal BMI but not overweight; pretty face; mid-to-late 30s or early 40s)
A "Real Man" 5 (who carries a little weight but not too much and isn't the body-builder type; mid-to-late 30s or early 40s)
Middle-Age Man (50 year old guy; slightly shorter; has most of his hair and looks like Alec Baldwin on the thinner side)
Middle-Aged Woman (50 year old woman; slightly shorter; think Heather Locklear)
Older Man (Can we get some Gandolf action here: tall but a bit stooped; wise grandpa type; Sir Ian McKellen type)
Older Woman (cute, sweet face like the Grandma we all wanted or had; Helen Mirren type)
    More animals (moo)
More toons (did anyone at DAZ check with Lady Littlefox about Genesis-ing Cookie/Chip?? Gumdrops? and now Lil Bit?)

Why do all the figures need to be replicated for each generation? Why can we not mix and match generations as needed for a project.

That's fine. As long as the old generation shapes are available for the newest generation. Or a newer morph on the same concept comes along. For example, David 5 is a stunningly wonderful improvement on David 3...and I really liked D3 (and have his morph for Genesis also). At an absolute minimum, giving us "Kids 4 for Genesis 1" would have been nice. It would have also been nice to have Luke/Laura 3 (not the same at YT, although YT is better in my own personal opinion) And, someday, we'll get a cute baby. Someday.

BF2, V6, and especially Gia, were definitely rushed. I feel Gia was especially rushed because she looks like V6's near identical twin. Even the body is nearly the same except bigger muscles. I figured we had at least another year before DAZ leaped into generation 6 figures as I still consider Genesis young (too young to be a lower generation already). A lot of vendors still have not gotten on board with Genesis because they keep making clothing, morphs, etc, for V4 (with the occasional product for M4) Seeing many comparison renders between Genesis and BF2, there's little difference in the bending with a few extra dials in the face. The very few extra bells and whistles aren't convincing me to downgrade.

Whether or not G2F was rushed doesn't matter. What matters for me is what are they doing with it. So far nothing that inspires me to invest any money in it. Ironically, it looks like it will be a PA product that will finally get me to take the plunge.

Same here. Where's the better clothing? Haven't seen it yet. Anything else inspiring? Nope.

Not so much a complaint as an observation. I primarily use G2F now and the lack of refreshing content hasn't slowed me down any. It does save me money though :)

I don't see my self investing any of my time or money on anything Genesis 2 related, both of which have forced me to become spares and so I have to buy something I can actually use, especially with this economy taking a turn for the worse each month. I would rather spend my money on something for my Gen 3, 4 or Genesis figures. I would sooner buy the mil horse two than anything Genesis 2 related. I don't like the look of the Figures, I do not see a great improvement on the technology, I do not or foresee a desirable product line.

As for girl six she looks like something would have bought but for genesis 1 being that I would have been able to mix and match her with the other girls in my collection like Hitomi.

There is the free Autofit clone for Genesis two but I am not about to spend money on several autofit clones.

If you ask me Genesis 2 and its product line will eventually fail.

No, because a whole new lot of aspiring "digital artists" will come along and buy the hell out of the product line while those of us who have been around the block a few times and are quite satisfied with the Gen 4 products will mumble and grumble that our favorite products are being forgotten and are no longer supported the way they should be. >:(

Maybe this is why I have avoided coming back to DAZ for so long. I saw some time ago that I wasn't going to be able to keep up with the "latest and greatest" and I wasn't even going to try. Still not gonna try :blank:

 Especially for a hobby.

There are many different ways of failing. Here a few things I see it failing at already. Creativity and originality. The entire product line just looks like a re hash of stuff that I have already seen at least a dozen times. A complete failure to stand out. Genesis 2 is not unique enough to really stand out from Genesis 1 or Gen 4 figures. I don't see it having any true advantages over Genesis one or the Gen four product line. That and I already see that it has some of the same limitations as the Genesis product line. No Genesis Mermaid or Centaur like figures. Not natively compatible with Gen 4 or genesis clothing or textures. I tried to use Bot genesis on Genesis 2 Basic Female and it would not work. Realism. Genesis 2 does not look any more photo realistic than genesis 1 or the gen four product line.
