OK, I'm having a bit of trouble getting my head around People in DAZ. Specifically what works with what? Victoria 6 is listed as Genesis II compatible what exactly does that mean? What is the difference between Genesis I and II? Then we get to what stuff works with each of the people.
Can anyone point me to something that explains all this? Hopefully in an easy to understand way. Thanks.

I would also like to ask "Is Genesis 2 different than genesis 1? If so. How do we get it? Why would DAZ release a add-on before the base figure?" Please respond RIGHT NOW. We are all waiting on the deal that you have offered, and quite frankly, we are very confused by the lack of information.
Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials was added to everyone's account for free -- you can download it from your Product Library or using Install Manager.
I will let the experts handle the finer details and the Genesis II questions, but basically there are multiple figures (such as Victoria 3, Michael 3, Aiko3, Victoria 4, Michael 4, Genesis I, etc.) and items such as clothing, hair, and poses were designed to fit those figures. The product pages should list which figure(s) a product is designed for.
For a specific figure such as Genesis I, there can be multiple shapes (such as Victoria 5, Michael 5, the genesis troll, etc.) that can share some products to a certain extent depending on how different the shape is. If you have questions about compatibility with specific products, ask until you get the hang of it and somebody will help you out.
Although products may be designed for one figure, SOMETIMES it is possible to use it with another figure with more or less success. For example, Genesis I can use a lot of materials designed for V4 and M4 (with a parameter setting). While hair for V3 isn't technically supposed to fit Genesis, it is often very easy to simply reposition and slightly adjust scales to get it to fit close enough. A hat could probably be easily fit to figures it wasn't designed for. A skin-tight outfit probably can't. There are also products to allow you to attempt to fit clothing designed for one figure or generation of figures to a different one, such as GenX. (Haven't had a chance to play with this much yet.) Some products will convert better than others.
Unless I missed it (which is very possible), the answers given to the OP, didn't really answer the specific question if Genesis 2 is an entirely different model than Genesis 1. Since there is no "Genesis 2" figure for sale (by itself, as a stand alone figure), I'm guessing it's not.
I have already downloaded the latest version of Daz Studio and there are no figures called "Genesis 2".
So I'm still confused! :(
its a file called Genesis 2 Starter Essentials
in your product library, you should find genesis 2 essentials.
doh beaten to the punch, and yeah it's genesis 2 starter essentials, my bad :D
Had to get a bigger shovel but I found it.
Let me guess, none of my Gen1 stuff will work and I have to buy all new morphs, right?
I'm sorry, I guess I'm not asking this properly. I know where to find the products, but what I wanted to know is why there is no "Genesis 2" model for sale? From what I see there is only Victoria 6 for Genesis 2 and Genesis 2 Female Morphs, but not a generic, NEW stand-alone model that could be considered a second generation of Genesis?
It's like a Genesis 1.5 or something like that.
It is in "Genesis 2 Female Starter Essentials". It is free and was added to your account automatically.

AUUUGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O LOL!
Okay, let's try this from a different angle....Is there a Genesis 2 Male Starter Essentials? Is there just a plain old Genesis 2?
Does anyone understand what I'm getting at here? :/

If I understand you, no... there is no Genesis 2 "be everything" mesh.
There is Genesis 1 be all, Genesis 2 Female and some day Genesis 2 Male.
If that's what you were getting at LOL

Yes SassyWench, that was all I was asking. Thank you! :)
YAY! We did it! LOL Very welcome :)
I bought the v6 pro bundle yesterday and downloaded it first via DIM then manually. The starter essentials were nowhere to be seen until this morning. Why were they not downloaded together because the v6 is useless without them.
Thanks Sean your answer was very helpful. I have a follow on question though are all the various additional models, the Michaels, Victorias et al morphable as well? If so what is the advantage of any of these over Genesis? Is it just to have clothes and items already designed and just plug and play for these figures?
In the beginning there was Poser and it had a male and a female figure. Nicknamed Posette and The Dork by users. :-)
Then Daz released Victoria and Michael, which were improvements on the original Poser figures
as time has passed we have gone through V2 and M2 (generation 2) and so on up till the latest generation, which is generation 6.
Each generation has been standalone, basically, with morphs and clothes needing to be designedd specially for that generation, and also designed specifically for the gender (and age as regards the children)
When Genesis was first released it was as an androgynous figure, which could be converted to either male or female, and then there were specific charater packs released for Genesis as V5 M5 etc, which became known as generation 5.
Because of the technology used in DS by that time it was possible to not only use all the genesis clothing on the figure, it could also use Generation 4 clothes as well, using autofit.
Genesis 2 is the newest figure, and has so far been released as Genesis 2 female. Apparently autofit will still work , and some people are managing to use generation 4 clothes with it.. So far the characters released are for V6, but more will follow.

Auto fit only works for Gen1 clothes, not mil4.
So convert Mil 4 to G1 and then G1 to G2, or for V4 get MallenLane's V4 Gor G2F. Or for that matter, use G1 where it is most suitable.

Or I could just do it the easy way and not use G2. Best way to solve a problem is not to create one.
