Maybe need new Memory Card

What's the best (a reasonable balance of cost and efficiency) memory card to get for an aging (6 yo) ASUS computer? Even with 16 gb of RAM, when using DAZ Studio rendering more complex scenes can lag so badly i want to scream. If I understand this right, i am currently using an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M.

  • Do you use a PC or Notebook?

If I am not wrong the GTX 560M is a card for notebooks. Also a very old one. Not many notebooks can switch graphic cards.

You sure that it lags because of the graphic card?

If you have a PC you should post your other PC equipment. Which CPU? Which power supply unit? How much watt does it have?

Well, it's a PC but also described as a notebook computer; so I'm afraid I don't know what the difference is. Improving the memory from 8 GB to 16 improved it some, but less than I wuld have thought. Other people have reported problrms similar to mine that were solved with newer graphics cards; i just don't know one from another and don't want to get a costlier one than is needed. i'm also a bit of a tech duffer so i am unsure what other info you are asking about, but it is a model G74Sx ACPI x64-based PC Intel (R) 6 series/C200 chip series Intel Core i7-2670QM CPU @2.2 GHZ (3.1 GHZ turboboost). I hope all that tells you more than it tells me, because i don't know what any of that means exce[t fpr the GHz level.

  • I am not sure what to suggest.

    I only find this:

    https://www.notebookcheck.com/Test-Update-Asus-G74SX-Notebook.63830.0.html

    Is that your thing?

You have a notebook CPU and GPU. I have never seen a PC with notebook hardware. If you have a notebook CPU you would probably have a Notebook Mainboard, where you can't switch the GPU as easily as on PC (on many models impossible).

Download CPU-Z and read which Mainboard you have. As it looks from here, the chance of a GPU-change is low.

Oh well. I'll just take it down to the local computer repair shop and ask thir opinion. Thanks anyway.
