Without undoing the application right away. I'm talking about this product by ForbiddenWhispers but this might just be a topic for all layered assets.

The simplest method would be to rapply the base materials. You could also find the layered maps in the Surfaces pane, click the little thumbnail to open the menu, seelct Layered Image Editor, and delete the additional layers.
