I can't help but say that I do feel a little cheated. To have the daily freebies be items that I have been able to acquire already is disappointing.

what emerging competition? And whatever competition there is, v6 is not next gen, is no longer even genesis, still has most of the same old issues genesis 1 has. Im not sure how this release has competed with any competition.
i'm thinking of the figure being developed at hivewire3d. i'm not making any comment either way about whether i think V6 competes vis-a-vis genesis, or whether what hivewire makes will compete either. just that i think that may have been part of what made DAZ hurry up and get V6 out there into the world. it has had us all talking about whether Genesis 2 is or isn't better than genesis, instead of talking about whether hivewire's figure will or won't be better than genesis.

Yes, that was very much a let-down. A V6 SS would've been what you'd expect, but this - it's embarrasing.
Makes me wonder how the hell were they thinking - were they thinkig at all? My feeling of scraping off the warehouse floor is strenghtened. After all the SS was another product that never really took off. We got some superheroe textures and the Mardi Gras (which on the other hand was awesome) and then nothing more. Not even a good tutorial for how all those material zones worked and what could be done with them.
Oh there are some new SS products coming. There are also some video tutorials on using it from the creator (one of them?).

Oh I don't know, I've had some good use out of the SuperSuit... but on the flip side, it does mean I got a full house - every single freebie was something I already have, LOL
I been out of rendering it for ages for various reasons so the Supersuit was a great freebie for me. I didn't have it yet.
However, I can't seem to get it to work. When I select the suit and click the presets, nothing happens. Not even when I render. Reinstalled it, restarted DAZ and all that but it just wont work :(
Any known issues what I might do wrong?
You and anyone else in the same, or similar boat, has my sympathy. It ended up with me not having 2 1/2 of the items (DTs light set #1 and SciFi Firearms pack) and those were grabbed this time due to them being free (no inference as to their quality, just how likely I am to use them!).
Weill, that would at least make a little sense. Even though it sounds like a crazy strategy, maybe they're just trying out some new sales tactics. But on their most important figure....? Damn....
As for the terrible freebie promotion... Well, if it's true that V6 was indeed a commercial success for DAZ - maybe they just realized they don't need to spend much money or effort on those promotions. If people buy it either way...well then promotions are just a waste of time and money for DAZ. Couldn't even blame them.

Some of the material presets are actually Shader presets - you need to select the surface areas you want to change (from the Surface pane list or with the Surface selection tool) before applying the preset. That certainly applies to those in the Shaders folder. The Supersuit is a prime candidate for creating some surface selection groups, then saving the result in a Scene Subset for future use.
Worst promo ever. Way to disappoint the people still spending money.

Don't get me started, I was an early adopter of DS 4 Pro back when DAZ promised it would never be sold at a better price - mind you, it could be argued that giving it away is not the same as selling it cheap... but I better step away from the keyboard before I really start to give a piece of my mind :O

I too purchased (or got free) all of these items too. However I figured it would be prudent to require to increase my duplicate product count in my library. Someone mentioned DAZ gives refunds on purchased content that is later free. Does it need to be within the 30 days of both acquisitions? What happens if you bought pro bundle, but the basic product is given free. This policy contributed to confusion with respect to the tangibility of product instances, and valuation.
All this brings up some interesting questions:
For instance does doubling quantity of software product in your library double your library asset valuation (License? or Binary Data?) = 200%?? Can two use licenses assigned to an entity be better than 1 ? Its it worth more -
And what if the vendor devalues a product by offering it free - what does that do you your assets? Whats it do for the publishers (DAZ) assets? I imagine software accountants have more freedom for interpretation over other more mature industries.
Lots of interesting stuff for the IRS/Taxman to figure out.
The price match guarantee applies for 30 day. There's no real benefit to having two copies installed, or two licenses, as you can already use multiple instances of any product in a scene.
And after the barnyard, I was thinking - hey maybe they'll roll out Millennium Cow 2 with BONUS Morphing Cow Bell, cuz' y'know you can never have too much cow bell!

That's exactly the problem. The current state of Auto-fit is udderly incapable of handling more than two of, er, you know what, at a time, so DAZ is intentionally withholding the poor cow's release until they won't embarrass themselves with an improperly fitted cowset.
To close the circle my circle on this conversation.... I just entered my ticket for returning the V6 Pro Bundle, the Genesis 2 Morph Bundle, the V4 for Genesis 2 Morph and all related textures.
I will watch for it to turn up again in the Fast Grabs.
