wow DS crash disconnected my Graphics Card

Am running DS 4.10.0.123 on a 64-bit Windows Home machine.

Had a big crash during which my graphics driver was disconnected, the OS reverted to native screen resolution. When I rebooted the PC the next morning, no cure.  I had to uninstall the graphics Driver, then let OS re-install on next boot.

Here's a snippet of my log file from DS:

  • Damn, what is happening with this build?? surprisesurprisesurprise It looks terribly (and dangerously) buggy!

That sounds like a driver fault, not a DS fault per se - the drivers do sometimes stop responding and have to be restrted, not just in DS but in anything that stresses them, though it's unusual for a restart not to fix it.

Maybe you should provide a "Prozac plugin" for these poor drivers. laugh

Just kidding. But seriously, when you think about it, it indeed seems unlikely that a program like DS would cause such carnage on an (I assume) otherwise perfectly healthy machine. Why, I use some programs that are even heavier on the GPU...

@ ibr_remote - One question that comes to my mind... how was the temperature of your machine doing before the crash? Ineffective cooling system or temperature surge may cause GPU to slow down or, in extreme cases, turn it off completely. Any overheating issues?

It isn't a Studio related issue. It's a video driver issue and way more likely to be exacerbated by Windows 10. Studio 4.10.0.123 is plenty stable on my Win 7 machine.
