Pyrit Hair Pulled From Store & Ballerina Shoe Kit Confirmed As Wonky

From the V6 render thread, I learned the Pyrit Hair has been permanently pulled from the store due to "morph problems." (Yes, you can still buy the colors for a no longer available product.) That ticks me off- there was no announcement and that's the hair I spent DAYS on and gave all the coordinates to make it work- WONDERFULLY. (You may remember eons ago when Scott-L and I were going back and forth and he was teaching me about smoothing and collision for the very first time!) I gave the settings to get the hair really nicely down by the ear, and you could lower the top part a lot more than what was shown below (it was a work in progress- and NOT EVEN SPOT RENDERED)
Excuse the lighting, etc on these- they were just to show the hair when Scott-L and I were going back and forth to experiment.

Bring back the Pyrit hair so others can use it!!!! It doesn't require that much more tweaking than any other hair, and you can get it by the ears SO nicely!

Also the Ballerina Shoe Kit DOES have errors (as reported on my art studio thread when I reviewed it- I do product reviews) and I submitted a ticket. DAZ just confirmed I wasn't out of my mind that the bows on the shoes load opposite of what they should, can't be separated when you move one, the other moves, etc. They are fixing it. (So what's up with the Pyrit Hair then?!!!)

I'm on a crusade for poor Pyrit.

Hmmm, took me TWO MINUTES- straight out of the box, NO tweaking. Here's the Pyrit Hair on Genesis 2.
Okay so what's the real story on this hair being pulled? I haven't tried any of the morphs, but it's fine without any tweaking at all!

And here's with tweaking, every morph did exactly what I asked it to do. So from another thread mentioning that it was pulled due to wonky morphs- I'm not seeing it. In this photo, I tested the sideburns, shorted the front, moved the front out, changed the volume. No problem.
BTW this is the Vianne for Victoria 6 figure.

A problem, with the Genesis version, as I recall was that each morph moved the hair a touch - so if you applied a lot of morphs the result could be a serious offset. I'm not sure if that's why it was pulled from the store, though.

Pyrit Hair is one of my favorites, never used it on Genesis but for the Gen 4s it was awesome. I'm glad i got it when it first came out.

And here's what I think gives you the best shot of this gorgeous hair. I was able to put the bangs exactly where I wanted them and the length I wanted them, got the wind blown dialed down, the sides are form fitting- so what's the problem with this hair? I want answers, I'm on a crusade!!!! Seriously, other than the Gloria hair http://www.daz3d.com/gloria-short-hairstyle which I use on Giovana for the product reviews, this is one of my "go-to" short hairstyles. And this is so different from Gloria!

Anyone else wanting Pyrit Hair back? I think it's a shame that people who don't have it can't get it. (Or is it on another site?)

Can you please find out? I know that's asking a lot- but when I was a brand new newbie- this was my first hairstyle that I tackled to learn morphs because it had so many and it does so much.

If you already own it, it's still in your order history. This isn't the first time DAZ has pulled products for reasons I have yet to fathom.

Years ago, DAZ pulled Jack Tomalin's Mons Olympus. The hangar and mechs are still in the PC catalog but the set they go with...gone. IIRC, this is a DO. DAZ may not have the people to work on a fix for it. It passed QA so obviously the problems were missed during beta testing and QA. Once DAZ buys it, any fixes are theirs to make. It's not like they can go back and make the PA fix the problem.

In the end, it may have been decided that pulling the product permanently is cheaper than keeping a product that has known issues in the store.

Yep, I knew it was still in my product library- but other people can't get it. (Glad you mentioned that so other people would know though) My question is- what issues? I'm tweaking every morph and they are doing what they are supposed to do. I just fiddled with the wind blown effects, no problem. The back volume, no problem. The neck, no problem. This is on Genesis 2, and from what I understand, other than the jaw (which doesn't affect this hair) the head is the same/ about the same. Even if it weren't there is a morph to adjust to fit to the crown.

So basically I'd just like to know what they think the problem IS.
EDIT: Below, I tweaked the sides out- see how I brought them in?, the length of the bangs on her left, scaled down windblown, twiddled with the neck in back. No problems.

Genesis 2F has improved weight mapping. The hair works fine V4 and seems to work fine with G2F. The only differences between all three is rigging. V4 uses legacy rigging, Genesis uses one version of Triax and it's been stated that G2F has improved rigging.

After nearly two decades of rigging one way, I'm still learning how WM's do and do not function. I maybe wrong but I don't think weight maps and conformers work and play well together and that may be a contributing factor.

Hmmm...so maybe they can just release the Pyrit Hair for Generation 4s and Genesis 2's. (Smile) Thanks for the explanation.

Actually it also ended up as a $1.99 item briefly when the last PC anniversary sale happened.

A similar and still-existing hair is Taylor Hair which is my go-to short hair most of the time.

Unfortunately, I wasn't around at the last anniversary 'smiles* otherwise I would have grabbed it at once. Gonna look at Taylor, thanks for the link *hugs*

Glad I picked it up back then. As for the colors, I'd like to suggest that if DAZ isn't planning on putting the hair itself back in the store, they should give everyone who already owns the hair a significant discount (like say, $1.99?) on the colors (I know, I'm simply dreaming here, it'll never happen.....right?)

I have the colors, but can't test it right now as I'm in the middle of a render for a product review- but I THINK you can select the hair, go into Surfaces, and change the diffuse on the front section, just like the colors. And if you have the lighter hair color for Pyrit (again, can't open up the product, but didnt it come in light and dark?) then you can change the diffuse and get a darker shade.

For other folks: These are the colors referred to that are still available. http://www.daz3d.com/pyrit-hair-colors

It's my go-to hair for a great many figures, and I'd never noticed the morph issue (probably because I never use more than a couple of morphs at a time), but I've just confirmed that it exists. Load the hair on a figure, switch to a side view, start cranking up morphs to 100%, and watch the hair drift backwards about a millimeter at a time.

What I remember from buying the ballerina shoe kit was that none of the DS mats worked, so I remade all of them myself. Not the end of the world -- I'm a DS user who buys a lot of Poser created content; making DS mats is old hat by now -- but it was a little irritating because it seemed the sort of thing that should've been picked up in testing.

So that's what happened to it. I always include links to products shown in my dial morph freebies, and when I went to look for this one I couldn't find it. Too bad; it's really cute hair.

I noticed some drifting on the sideburns and the wind morphs don't work properly, but for $1.99, I can live with it.

On the Ballerina shoes- it was a lot more than MAT. The bows wouldn't load separately, the right went on the left, you could separate them at first but after you did the first bow, you couldn't do the second without the first one moving- it was awful. I spent four hours on it testing it before I filed the bug report, with Jaderail and a few others confirming that with the screenshots I posted in a thread, that it was misbehaving. (Both the bows and buckles.) So they are at least working on it.

Hi guys, I'm brand new to DAZ and I'm having fun, hope you can help me, I just bought the pyrit materials (I thought it was a hair), and can't apply them to the haris that come with the genesis install by default, they don't show in the materials, is there a trick to use them and applythem to other haris??

    thanks for your answer.

unfortunately the product that the materials go to was pulled some time ago.

if it has been less than 30 days you can get a refund for the materials

The "go-to" is Taylor Hair. If you like Pyrit style, you'll like Taylor :) I also use Gloria Short Hair. One is shorter, one longer, but you'll enjoy both. :)

BTW, DAZ confirmed there was an issue with the Ballerina Shoe kit and were working on it. Never heard a thing after that. So if you buy it and the bows don't work, it's NOT YOU- but report it as a bug. (As soon as the new bug report system is in place I guess.) I am assuming they fixed it though.

I hadn't heard that Pyrit was removed from the store. I use the V4 version in DS 3 Advanced all the time. I really like that hair. I don't have Genesis2, and haven't had a chance to play with the Genesis1 version in DS 4.0 Pro as yet, so now I'm wondering if there was a Genesis2 version of the hair, and THAT's what got pulled from the store.

Yes it definitely no longer in the store.

If you pull it up in your product Library you will see there is no link to a store page for it, whereas the colours for it do have a link, and a store page.

Pyrit Hair hasn't been removed from the store permanently. It is broken, and so we have pulled it until it is fixed, and it will be fixed.
