Smart content: how to display ALL items?

I installed all of my purchased content. Yay. And now I'm facing a problem that I can't actually access them all from Smart Content.

See attached image, I've circled all important areas:

I'm sorting from A to Z; there are 1200+ sitting poses; I'm at the very bottom of the list; and I'm only at the letter "i."

How do I load the rest of the poses?

(And I do have more products. When I sort from Z to A, the end of the list shows up. Even if this is a solution, I still can't get to the middle... :D)

Content Library has a pager where I can step to the next page. I can't see anything similar here.

Oh, no, is that what using your Deals Add-On for long enough does? Makes you buy everything in the store?! wink

Sorry I don't have a solution - I only get that length list if I switch the context filter off.

ETA: (hit save accidentally) All I could suggest is adding another level of category below sitting - maybe to split out those partial body poses. Pretty time-consuming job though.

There are several bugs with Smart Content sorting. It looks like you found another. Please report it. I've reported problems with sorting by Release Date (many, even new, products have release dates in 1969). That bug was reported long long ago but has never been fixed. I just reported another bug, Smart Content sort All Products by Product ID gives no results.

The list is limited in number of files it shows by design, but that is serving you badly here. You could write (and save) filters to show only a range of starting letters - I'm just going to see if I can figure out how (Regular Expressions always send me to search).

LOL, I meant to say I have more products. Not most products. :D

What is the point of limiting the number of files it shows when there is a scroll bar? Why isn't there a way to change that limit or display the next "page" of files, like there is in Content Library? It seems like Smart Content has missing functionality in that regard.

All products sorted by product ID works for me. Interestingly, it doesn't even limit the display at 1200, like the files tab.

That's odd - sort by Product ID is working for me (I'm using a different style and I don't use Connet - which may be the difference?) Is your problem intermittent or permanent?

So this is the expected behaviour? Oh my... I'm having so much problem with organizing poses.

Oddly enough, when I switch to the products tab, the list shows more than 1200 items. I switch back to files, and there's the 1200+ limit. :(

@Ati @MelanieL That is strange that it works for you and not for me. MelanieL, I see that you are not logged in in your screenshot. I tried logging out, but it still didn't work for me. Most, but not all, of my content is installed with Daz Connect. I wonder if Customer Support will be able to reproduce the problem. I gave them step by step instructions.

    I only use DIM, too.

Well, I just fought the filter Scope seelctors and regular expressions - and lost. I'm sure it is possible to write a filter that will show only files tarting with a range of letters, which is what is needed, but I'm obviously going about it the wrong way.

No, my DAZ Studio-ing PC is not internet-connected, so I'm strictly a DIM user. Maybe that has something to do with it - perhaps the Smart Content list has some problems with Connect and it's multiple-libraries approach. Having said that, my DIM'd content is divided between 8 content libraries, so I'm not using a totally defatult setup.

Can you point me to a documentation about it? I'll play with it a little. The text-filter seems to only work with complete WORDS, not even letters.

Note that by default it's filtering on tags, which accounts for soem of the unexpected results i was getting with

but I haven't figured out how to get it to work with name::

Thank you. I will play with this a little. It doesn't mention regexp. So far I could only get it to match for partial characters anywhere in the name.

Oh my... and I thought my biggest issue will be converting the poses between generations. :D

  • AtiAti Posts: 9,130

Workaround: I think I'm going to just dump all the poses into a different category for each function, and use categories for this instead of smart content. Categories can display several pages of items. Keeping it updated will be a challenge, but at least I can see them all.

Well, I think the RegExp was working in Smart Content just typed bare, but that worked on tags and not names so wasn't useful here.

Just curious: Does 4.11 fix this issue?

No, it does not. Customer Service told me it will not be changed.

I gave up on Smart Content a long time ago. The Contents Pane works just fine and one has a choice of layouts.

You can always find them under Products, that's never been an issue.

Even getting into Products depends on the metadata. Bad metadata, like path or filename errors, will throw those individual items into the LOCAL USER product. Good luck sorting that out. Partial metadata (i.e., some items not included) will only add those with Asset statements to the Product view, the rest will end up in LOCAL USER. Older content with no metadata at all (almost everything from before DS4, mainly Poser files) will get an auto-generated minimum default metadata file that will at least include everything in the correct Products folder.

It'd be nice to be able to SEE all of the content I've bought when doing Content Library searches.  And the even smaller limit on Smart Content is even more annoying.

Mind you, I appreciate all of the poses that Ironman13 made, but this means that once I hit the i13 poses in smart content, I won't see anything else before or after 'i'.

Switching the search parameters in smart content from A-Z to Z-A helps to some degree, but as I purchase more pro bundles and such, hence acquiring more poses, this just widens the 'void' in the middle, when trying different parameters.

And I just google searched for how to bypass the 1200+ limit when it appears, which brought up this thread.  The fact that it's intermittent, i.e. sometimes I see 3000+ results, other tmes the 1200 limit kicks in in with the Content Library.  I don't understand why that would be the case...

And of course most of the V4/M4 or earlier era content isn't even indexed.  Rather than expecting each person to create index tags that content individually, I'd love to see someone take the time to package a product that adds the tags to the pre-Genesis era stuff, at least for the more popular items.  If someone offered that in the Daz store, or some other store, for a reasonable cost, with say 50-100 or more items indexed in each installment, I'd probably buy that.  The man hours saved for everyone else that buys the earlier era content, or that has had it for a while, by said noble soul, would be invaluable to the rest of us!

Anyways, yeah I'd love an explanation as to why this search limit even exists.  If it's a legacy hardware thing, back when we had slower CPUs with less cores, and the amount of installed memory was lower than is typical these days, well at the very least there should be a checkbox that allows us to bypass these limits, or at least increase the range of the limit.

This IS something that should definitely be addressed in DS5 when it eventually appears.
