Conversion of OBP to...

Some time ago, I’m merrily looking for assets for scenes to render in Daz...  I found a nice ship, and made the purchase.

Wait, why want it installing?

Huh, it was installed...  oh, I see, it’s only a BRYCE product, and I can’t really complain because it’s clearly listed as such.  Huh...

So, is there any NICE and EASY WAY to convert a OBP file with the MTL to Daz, or dae format where I wouldn’t need to manually set the materials to their proper placements?

it was this one...

thanks in advance.

OBP   Object Bryce preset.    AFAIK  not convertable to any other format,  It will be textured using a tex generated from the DTE.    and that particular model is 11 years old, so very little chance at all.

If you purchased within the last 30 days you can apply for a refund by filing a help ticket, using the Contact Us button that is on the bottom of every page on the site.

If you have Bryce then load it in and then send it to Studio. Doesn't always come across well but worth a try.

I did try that, but the textures don't generally transfer, at least the time or two I tried.

I migh try it again, maybe its a setting somewhere....  I just didnt want to have to go through picking out every 'part' and texturing it...

I found a page on another forum... Unsure if it is wise to link it here...

Google, "OBP to OBJ", minus the quotes, and you whould find what you need.

There is also some "online mesh converters", which may offer some potential. (I would link those, but I can't test the output of OBP to OBJ, because I don't have Bryce currently installed on this machine.)

It would be nice if Daz made internal conversions, so we could pick which formats we want, or get more formats. But, I think Bryce is essentially dead. It was awesome, back in 1994! (Opinion...)

I just wish they focused more on the height-map editing. It could have been a great addition to Daz, instead of Daz being an addition to Bryce.
