Transfering Morphs/MATs from G2F to G3F

Hello everyone. I'm Allen and I'd like to ask a question regarding how to change/transfer figure models. I recently watched a few tutorials but I didn't get the desired result. I'm going to explain you my idea straight forward so that you can get the accurate picture:

So, my idea is to transfer Ysabeau 6 (G2F figure) into a G3F figure. Things I tried:

I tried using GenX to export her head and body morphs to later on import them on a G3F, but for some reason I couldn't find them, she just came with a general shape, and my skills aren't good enough so I didn't know what to do next. I also tried Legacy UVs for G3F so as to transfer her skin (MATs) but, once again, the result was not as I expected it to be, as part of the textures around her lips were dislocated...
I played around using different settings on both programs, I got a close result, but still, I'm not satissfied and that's why I'm asking for help. Probably it's simple, it's just that I don't have enough knowledge about modeling and stuffs.

Your help will be highly appreciated.

Allen, regarding the textures as applied using my Legacy UVs product, I have attached a direct comparison between the original Ysabeau on G2F and Ysabeau on G3F.  There are likely to be some differences due to the differences in the geometries between the two meshes, and Ysabeau, being quite full-lipped, has a lip transfer as one might expect.  The outline of the top lip is less marked on the original morph, and so any "overspill" is less obvious.

If your texture transfer is markedly different from that shown there may be other factors at play.

  • Thanks for the response, Cayman Studios. For some unknown reason, I can't get it done as you've shown. As you can see in the attachment sent (Left is my conversion, right is the original figure), around the lips it's sort of messed up. What am I doing wrong?
It's such a shame, she's perhaps my favourite G2F character and I think it seems impossible to get her transfered into a G3F.

Well, the first thing I notice is that you are using MATs which are not Ysabeau MATs - Ysabeau does not have red eyes.  So to test the problem you should at first just try to apply the default Ysabeau MAT only onto G3F, then we might be able to see what is happening.  Also, don't bother with the morph at this stage - just the plain old Genesis 3 Female shape as she is loaded.

Edit: It looks like the Face surface has the wrong UVs, whereas the Lips surface is OK.  If you are mixing different MATs for different surfaces you need to make sure that for each surface the UV Set is correct.  The 'Apply G2F UVs' script, for example, will set the UVs for all surfaces to the G2F Base Female UV, so you may have to change the UV Sets for the different surfaces manually.

  • Hello, Cayman Studios, I'm so sorry for the late response.

Yes I did some changes on the lips and eyes, as well as changed the UVs to Aiko 5, since it fits better using it, but I did it because the outcome was the same, I already tried applying the textures to the original G3F (untouchable), I had the same outcome around the mouth/lips unfortunetely. I once again tried with the original G3F figure and again, the same happened around the lips / mouth (file attached), I guess something isn't working or I'm doing something wrong, which I wish it was the latter.

    Here's what I did:
1 - Loaded my Genesis 3 Female figure
2 - While being selected I hit the icon _Prepare G3F (This loaded 5 Legacy parts such as Legacy Head, Legs L/R and Shoulders L/R)
3 - Applied Ysabeau 6 Mats on G3F and Legacy parts

What you have there is correct for the steps you have taken.  All you need to do now is run the 'Apply G2F UVs' script, and this will change the UV sets on the surfaces to "Genesis 2 Female", which is the UV set needed for Ysabeau 6.

  • So, it looks like I totally missed out that step. It's working now, thank you!
