Chage of email address in Install Manager

I have gigabytes of stuff installed via Install Manager. I changed my email address and IM wont login in anymore as it has retained the old address. The only option available is to add anther account.

How do I update Install Manager with the new email address?

Create a new account, even if it has fake details, then select that but check Work offline. You can then click the gear icon at top-right to open Preferences and edit the details for the original account.

    Be careful!
I changed my account name in DIM and it lost all its memory of what was downloaded and installed! I didn't change the email address, just the name. When I right clicked on the account name and selected Edit Name, there was no warning that this would happen. Changing the account name wiped out the account ini file in AppData/Roaming/Daz 3D/InstallManager/UserAccounts. You might want to back that up before making any changes to your email address, just in case. I hope changing email addresses is less destructive or that DIM updates may have fixed the problem.

Hmm, I don't recall that happening when I changed my email a while back. That's why I suggested editing. it may be that i had to reset the manifest override directory, but that would matter only if not using the default.

I'm glad to hear that changing email address doesn't have the problems incurred with changing account name.

  • I followed richards instructions and it worked fine. Its a bit of a fudge to have to do it that way though :)

Barbult; I nearly changed the name too just because I wanted to play around. Glad I cam back to this thread first!

Good to hear confirmation that changing email address is not destructive. Thanks for reporting back and confirming Richard's experience, too.

Oh, let me add one more word of warning. When I changed my email address on my actual Daz Store Account, I lost access to all previous help requests I had submitted. They are tied to the old email address I guess. They won't show in "My Activities".

Yes, I have to temporarily switch back when I need to add a note to an old ticket - fortunately that doesn't require you to have access to the old email address itself (though of course if you don't you won't get any notifications of new comments on the ticket to know it needs replying to).

I quickly changed my email back, put a note on the open ticket and let them know the issue, then changed the email back. The tech updated the ticket so it had the same new email. Emma is awesome.

I agree. Emma is awesome. It is so nice to interact with customer service people who seem truly interested in helping customers. Emma is a star.

This needs to be in the HELP faq I used google to find this thread, and had did the + to add since I didnt see how to change it and of course everything went away, I logged into the changed email offline anyways then when in and edited the 'account' line to the new email and then logged in using that and then selected the added non account one and hit - and that worked

My DIM account is called (Account). I think it's just the default. I don't have my username in there. However I must have created an account when I updated my email and added a username, this problem happened. It was a quarter of my library it was wanting to download again and a shed load of updates. I had a look at the accounts in the DIM and noticed the default (Account) with my old email address. When I switched back to the orginal and just edited the email address leaving the username as (Acount) all those downloads just vanished.
