Reset of Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit AND the need to Have Daz Content Elsewhere

I apparently need help VERY much.  I reset my system and have started adding Programs.  Photoshop CC 2018 - Easy as pie. Blue Iris? Can't remember Camera Config, but It was easy to download and activate, the same with ESET NOD 3 and Adobe products.  You get the picture.

So the only DAZ 3D programs I have installed are DIM and DAZ 3D itself. I have tried adding one model to the fray but it goes to the C:\USERS directory.  I want EVERYTHING (except Programs) elsewhere. Easy except DAZ3D.  I want EVERYTHING DAZ 3D on my other SSD drive in the box itself. D:\DAZ_CONTENT etc or any name on D:\.

I see that DIM I guess has already had a My DAZ3D Library on D:\!  So I have to deal with that somehow. Lightwave goes anywhere you tell it for OBJECTS and SCENES and SOUNDS, etc - a Content Directory of which you can have 9 of 'em on any drive, whatever!

SO- I know I have to tell DIM and DAZ 3D where it all is installed but I can't somehow.  HELP!

Using DIM (which wil only install on C:) to downlaod and install things - you can:

Specify where the downlaoded files will go.,

Specify where things wil be installed to,

The downlaod location is singular: only one place will be used.  The install locations can be split into different categories: programsd wil be installed into the 32- or 64-bit directories you specify (by default those will be the Program files (x86) and Program files and directories.  For content you can break create your own categories and point teh content into teh install location of your choice.  As an example I have my Daz Studio content downlaoded to E:\DAZContent\DIM_Downloads.  I install Daz Studio content to D:\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library, id the content is from DAZ and is fpr Poser it goes to D:\DAZ 3D\Poser. If it is something like a tutorial it will go to E:\Resources.  Each time you instal lsoemthing frome new you will need to tell DIM whoch category to use.

Well thanks.  I hope I can do this. I think I know enough so that I don't have to wipe (reset) my whole system.  Thanks again.  Wait.

I was unable to make changes to the DIM and DAZ 3D configs. Oh. I'll screen shoot them for you.  Oops. I gotta load a screen shot program.  Back Later.

I did a full write-up on dim and studio configuration here - if you have any additional questions i'll try to answer them.

Okay! I hope these shots make some sense.  I have Daz3D 4.10 - the latest.

Oh! and the PostGre stuff is rearing it's ugly head.  I thought I was past that.

DIM should be installing to that directory (note - not downloading, but installing).

And from the instructions I linked to -

Click the '+' by DAZ Studio Formats to expand the list, then click on 'DAZ Studio Formats' itself; this gives you the option to Add a directory. Click the 'Add' button and browse to your DIM installation directory (in my case above, E:\s4stuff\gen5 - in DAZ terminology, gen5 is a 'content' directory). This will put the directory at the bottom of the list; you'll want to move it to the top - click on it and use the move button. You can add non-DIM directories here as well; I have an E:/s4stuff/3rd-party that I dump things not from DAZ into.

Repeat the above for the Poser Formats group, as some of the items DIM installs (older items, for the most part) are Poser format and will be found by this directory path.

And if you want to delete directories - click on them and then use the delete button. And if you want to use Connect, you'll want to expand it's directory and change the default path there as well.

I've added my layout - notice  have "DAZ Studio Formats" selected and there is an 'Add' button available.

I found out ANSWERS don't send me an email.  I'll see if I can turn that one ON somewhere. Anyway.  I reset and reinstalled everything but some junk files.  I have NOW more space that's unused.  And Poser stuff on another Internal SSD.  That makes for space too.  DAZ things REALLY seem to want to be on the System drive.
