How to restore headlight?

After choosing a spotlight and later deleting it, the figure became a silhouette -- completely dark. How do I restore the headlight? Is there an on/off keyboard shortcut?

CTRL (CMD for MAC) + L should do the trick.

Are you sure there isn't another light of some kind in the scene? Open the Scene pane option menu (click the menu button in the top corner, or right-click the tab) and then Select>Select All Lights.

Yes generally the headlight normally comes on automatically when the last light in the scene is deleted. If unsure you can always use the "Select All Lights" command from the Scene Pane's Options Box.

Thank you Szark for Cntrl-L, that's really handy shortcut to have, and thank you Mr. Haseltine for your reply. After reading it I realized that I had not deleted the light, just turned it off. When I did delete the light, the headlight shone bright. Merritt in his light presets tut has a light bulb icon on his workspace. What must I do to conjure that icon onto my workspace? I'm using the self-serve workspace. TIA for your help. Have a great weekend gents.

Ok to add the icon to a tool bar

    Window > Workspace > Customise or F3.
1 Find the Preview light Icon
    2 select Toolbars
3 Drag the Preview light in to the heading of the toolbar in this case Viewport Tools.
4 The Preview light should now appear in the list
5 It should now be in your tool bar.
