Griffin Wings for DAZ Horse 2 IRAY problem (SOLVED)
![Joepingleton](https://farnsworth-prod.uc.r.appspot.com/forums/uploads/userpics/748/n08A986D4DC9F.jpg)
Any ideas/tips on why the textures on "Griffin Wings for DAZ Horse 2" are not mapping correctly? This is just the default bay material

Weird — that looks like the Horse 2 body texture mapped to the wing leading edge. I almost bought those wings the other day but decided not to, so I can't check for myself. Have you tried applying other wing textures, to see if it's just that one material setting, or all of them?
That is what seems to be happening and It's wierd that it happens on all of them. I got it to work once, but I couldn't replicate it again. It may just be the order of how it's applied or the way it's conforming to the figure. Has any one lese had this happen to them?
Would you look at the Surfaces tab and see if maybe DAZ selected the wrong UV Set for the wings? I have a couple of objects that consistently load up with the wrong UVs, and that's what it looks like when such a thing happens. I switch through the choices on the UV Set combobox until I find the one that works right.
UPDATE: On my Mac I loaded up the horse and wings, applied the Bay materials, then went into the Surfaces tab to see what's what. The Wing Arm surfaces UV Set combobox has two choices, and they both look the same to me. I guess this isn't the source of your problem :-(
Mine is working just fine. It is supposed to have the horse body texture applied to the WingArm surface, but maybe you've somehow got the tiling parameters set wrongly? What does the second page of the Surfaces tab look like? The tiling should be set to:
Horizontal Tiles = 1.0
Horizontal Offset = -0.65
Vertical Tiles = 0.52
Vertical Offset = 0.22
I've no idea why they would be wrong but it's worth a check.
ETA: Those are the settings for the Bay texture - some of the others vary, specifically the spotty/patchy skins like the Gypsy Vanner or Lepoard (to get a "nice" part of the horse skin onto the wing arms).
Thank you for the info, My settings match yours exactly but I still get the wierd texture on the wings. Are you rendering in Iray or 3Delight? I noticed it works just as expected in 3Delight but looks wierd in Iray (see attached image)
Thank you for the info, I tried both the "default UVs" and "horse-wings" UV settings and I still get the wierd texture on the wings with both settings.
I've tried everything I can think of and kept having the same problem. Does "midnight_stories" ever look at these forums? Anyone eese have ideas on how to fix this or are you experiencing the same problems. I am using the latest version of DAZ Studio. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry I've not replied for a few days - I only got back onto DS today after a major install-athon.
Well, I see exactly the same problem as you when I render in Iray - I rendered with 3Delight the first time and it was fine (just like the viewport window).
But with Iray I get the same weird effect you are getting. I think there is some bug at play here in the 3Delight->Iray conversion process. Best thing would be to raise a support ticket about it.
Sorry guys I really don't get to this forum very often !
This is pre Iray days so a lot has changed since then.
I have a PC not a Mac so I don't know if the zip will work.
Just unzip the your Daz studio content folder.
and in the materials for the wings there should be a new Icon called Fix UV
just apply that after you apply a new material. If you can't use the zip just refer the the
screenshot below ! all it is is just playing around with the UV offset.
Cheers

@Midnight_stories - thank you so much for that - it seems to work perfectly for Iray (well, I tried three of the skin textures and they all worked well). I took a look at what changed and have no idea why it works but it does. Now the wing arms look weird in the viewport, but render correctly.
On the other hand they don't work in 3Delight, but the originals were fine so it's just a case of re-applying them if you change your mind about which render engine to use!
Here's an Iray-ed Hancock Roan showing off his wings:
Looks great, and thanks for letting know if it worked. There is some differences between Delight and Iray titling parameters they interpret using different system
a bit like digital and analog.
Cheers
Midnight_stories,
Thank you so much for all you hard work and helpfulness. The fix you posted solveed all my problems. It's interesting that the tiling is so much different between 3Delight and Iray. I really love this product and I am so happy to be a ble to play with it in Iray now. Attached is the reult of my first experiment.
Wow that is a brilliant render !
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement and for creating such a fantastic product
