White Eyes Rendering in LuxRender/Reality 2

Help!

I just installed the Reality 2 plugin, which is doing an excellent job on everything BUT eyes. Every eye I render comes out like this, white and featureless. When I render them from within DAZ, everything is fine, but as soon as they go through LuxRender, this is what I end up with.

These are the eyes that came with Victoria 6, and I haven't changed any of the default settings for them. Is this my problem? Is there something that needs to be changed in order for them to work properly with LuxRender?

I don't have or use Reality myself, but Genesis2/V6 has a new extra surface on the eye, called EyeReflection. My guess would be that this new surface has to be set up for rendering in Reality ?

The Luxus plugin seems to autoconvert the eyes of V6 correctly to LuxRender.

Pretty much, but it's not that Reality is not converting improperly, it's using the data from the texture created by the vendor unless specify otherwise. Here's an "out of the box" setting for the eye surface that Reality created for a vendor set and here's what it started to render without me changing the settings. The LuxRender materials do not appear to have an "eye surface" setting per but you could probably substitute it with the settings in the Glass:Human category and see what it does.
I still need to tweak these btw, I'm not happy with the cornea's but once I do get something I like I can re-use the settings I've made using save w/textures or save to ACSEL with textures in the Materials tab of Reality under the Shaders drop down.

Set this reflection surface to Glass with the Architectural box checked. There will be no benefit from using realistic glass settings. In Luxrender this new surface has the benefit of giving a continuous surface to the eye for reflections, unlike the separate cornea and sclera in Genesis 1.

I expect Reality 3 will recognize this surface (as Reality currently does with cornea) and set it to the above automatically.

Ah hah! It was indeed that pesky eye reflection layer. Made it glass, and now everything is working just fine.

Thank you, folks. That was absolutely maddening!

http://brischloss.deviantart.com/art/GlossyEyes-Settings-Tutorial-371187301 has good Luxus eye material settings, and an explanation for them.

Attached the image on the page in case the link goes bad.

i'm having this white eye problem too, but *without* using reality or luxrender. so i can't find the settings that are talked about here (glass etc).
anybody know how to solve this if you're NOT using reality/luxrender?
    thanks

And what figure and texture ?
Could also be helpful if you can post an image of the problem.

    here is an example
the left figure is olympia, whose eyes are ok
the right figure is vic 6, and the white of her eyes is too white
any suggestions as to how i can change that are welcome

    thanks!

Ah yes, i see what you meant now.
The standard texture on V6 has the AoA_Subsurface shader. Depending on your lighting and render settings this can cause the texture to glow. The quick fix for the eyes would be to go into the Surfaces-tab and set the "Subsurface Off-On" setting to zero for both the 'Sclera' and the 'Irises" surfaces.

thanks for your answer blackfeather. i just tried it and it looked good, but then i tried with the original subsurface settings, and it looked the same, so now i'm confused :-) i must have changed some other settings too. in any case i will remember this for when i see the very white eyes again
