Q: How to Iray render full scene in viewport (not a 700:910 bounding frame)

Seeking help with the technical settings for Iray rendering in DAZ Studio 4.10 Pro.

When I position the models in the Viewport and change rendering from 'Shaed Texture' to 'NVDIA Iray', only a narrow rectangle is actually rendered.  The area outside of this rectangle shows the floor grid with the unshaded parts of the model in white.

In the Aux Viewport, the models show with a bounded rectangle labeled 700 : 910, which presumably is the width/height dimensions of the bounding rectangle.

What I want is for the entire viewport to be rendered, not the bounded rectangle.  In fact, I don't want the rectangular frame at all.

This didn't happen before, so I assume I mistakenly changed a setting, and now I want to change it back but don't know which setting to change.

Please help?

Sounds like you are using the default camera. I would recommend creating a new camera, then select that camera (probably "Camera 1" if no other camera sets were installed), and in the "Properties" tab you can change the dimensions. There's a lot more to it than that, but start with this, and then ask more questions in the forums for whatever more you need to know.

To create a new camera, look at the top of your Daz Studio screen, and find a small icon that looks like an antique movie camera, or select the "Create" menu, and follow your nose.

And welcome to our addiction hobby!

What you need to do is open the Render Settings pane, click on the Editor tab at the top of that pane, and select Active Viewport in the drop down box for Dimensions Preset. Then Iray will render your whole viewport, regardless of what size it is. If you resize your viewport, the size of your render will also change to match it.

@barbult This precisely solved my problem.  For some reason it was set to 'Custom' (not knowingly by me).  Thank you!

@dragonfly_2004  Thanks for the feedback.  I was using a new camera (not default).  When I looked at the Dimensions attribute, I only saw the option to "Use Local Dimensions" On/Off, not to adjust the width.  Thanks for the feedback.

I'm glad it worked for you. You do not want to follow advice to set local camera dimensions. That will prevent the Active Viewport from being used.

@barbult Thank you SO much. Damn this "Custom" Dimension Preset by default was so annoying.

    Cheers mate. Very useful tip.

Actually the default behaviour is "whatever area isn't taken up by the left/right pane groups" — and that isn't fixed, as some panes have a wider minimum width than others. Setting a specific render size gets around this.
