Editing clothing

Hello everyone.
I need some non-proprietary clothing for one of my characters and I find that an item that I already have can be cut down and edited to produce what I need (it's not for resale or re-distribution by the way).
I've tried to do this in Hexagon and it seems to work to a certain degree (although it could be better) but from here on I'm stuck. 
It won't come back as an *.obj but only as a prop and with several other difficulties that I'm encountering, I'm just floundering about.
Does anyone know of a good Youtube tutorial or something similar that might help me on my way?

    Load both the orignal clothing and the OBJ, then go to Edit>Figure>Transfer utility. Set the Source to be the original  outfit and the Target to be the OBJ, then click Accept. That should at least give a starting point.
