Help using Shimmer and Lace Iray Shaders

This is probably a super-newbie question, but how on earth do you use Shimmer and Lace Iray Shaders? I've managed to use the everday fabric shaders, but these are beyond me ... help!

Is the problem applying them in the first place, or getting the look you want from them?

Both, really. I can handle remedial-level skills with surfaces (click on surface in surface tab, click on shader to apply shader), but this is beyond me.

Most shader presets with those kinds of options want you to select a "base" color/surface setting, and then apply the glittery layer or the lace/transparency pattern second. IIRC, the folders on that particular set are laid out kind of weird, but one of them's base colors, one is lace, and one is glitter patterns and colors. It takes some trial amd error to figure out what does what.
