A neutral surface for Genesis 2 Female? [Solved]

I am trying to find a quick and simple way of giving Genesis 2 Female a neutral surface, similar to the surface Genesis loads with, so that I can have a clear view of the form without the distraction of the preloaded skin shaders.

Copying the Genesis surface and pasting it onto Genesis 2 Female does not seem to work, even after I have applied the new Subsurface Base Shader to Genesis.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Select one of Genesis materials and save as a shader. Then, select all of G2 surfaces and apply the shader. This way, any material properties G2 loaded with will be replaced with basically a plain grey shader.

Excellent! Thanks, Slosh. I might use this as my default load figure from now on.

No problem. I have the plain shader set as a custom action in my scripts menu so I don't have to look for it. Actually, I have Genesis and G2 set as custom actions, too, for faster loading.

Is there anyway to re-save the Genesis 2 Female, so that she loads neutral grey?

    Cheers,

I would save her as a character preset or a scene subset so that you don't modify the original G2F file. File/Save As/Scene Subset. The save dialog that pops up will show everything that is in your scene, simply clear any checkboxes except the one for Genesis 2 Female and save it. I would save it somewhere easy to find and maybe call it Gen2F_Grey or something similar. Then, in the content library you will see her in the saved location. She will have an overlay that says "Set" written on a green background. Right-click on that, then assign her to your category of choice, probably Figures/Female/Real World like her original counterpart. Now you are good to go.

Thanks! That worked...learned something new, which is cool! I, too, prefer the 'grey' base for seeing the basic morphs when I'm
    applying them or dialspinning them!

    Cheers,

Revisited this and refreshing it with a reply for those whom might wish to have their G3F to appear in the nice, neutral clay-grey....

    Cheers again--almost 2 years later....

What I did was to go into the surfaces tab, make all the maps for the figure 'none' and then save that as a Materials Preset.

    CHEERS!

    That'd work too! :)

Also, a MAT pose probably takes up less drive space than a saved figure would. I learned that surfaces tip from MEC4D, I think she used to include a MAT like that with her Gen 4 textures.

    CHEERS!
