Cloth Simulation Presets- Hair and Cloth

Does anyone know how to work these for hair and/or cloth? The "tutorial" that comes with it kinda sucks and leaves out key information.
Let me give you an example;
Step 1) Make sure to apply the scalp preset onto anything that does not move.
...
...
HOW?! How exactly are we supposed to do that? You give the steps what to do to make them work, but you don't say HOW to do it? I really have no idea how to select JUST the scalp on a hair because I've never had to before, and while I understand WHY you have to... I mean, you need an anchor point for the rest of the hair, you left out the HOW to apply the scalp preset onto anything that does not move. I really have no idea what you are talking about so if you could a much more comprehensive tutorial, or make one available? That would REALLY be a nice way to make this a much more effective product.

Select hair in scene window (or using node selection tool). Go to surfaces tab. You'll see a list of surfaces, which should include one called "scalp" or "base". Apply Scalp preset. You can also use the surface selection tool, but the scalp by definition being underneath everything else can be tricky to grab that way.
If you're going to do anything with dforce beyond putting digital women in official dforce-compatible clothing, posing and hitting simulate, you will need to familiarize yourself with the surfaces tab.
Thank you so much for letting me know this. This is a really key thing!!
And don't get turned off when there is no "scalp" or "base" as some PAs decided to use other names like "material1" or "main" or whatever they deemed to fit.
It helps to activate the "surface" tool - cursor, that is . too and then to click on the different entries in the surface tab, because then the selected surface will be marked by a yellow edge in the preview window.
So do you have a more comprehensive step by step way of getting to the simulation I'm looking for?

The reason you don't see the information about the surfaces tab is likely because that's a basic function/operation in Studio. PA's tend to not repeat basic instructions (e.g. Open Daz Studio, Open Smart Content or the Library tab, etc, etc.)
Well... that's the bread and butter. I don't like learning blind in case it turns out I'm doing something in a way that's much more inefficient... but you know how it is.

Don't mistake my message. Even though it's been awhile for me, I still remember the frustration of learning to use Studio w/ the marginal documentation. There are so many ways to accomplish a given action. I would recommend just spending some time going through the various tabs (while an object is selected) and seeing what's there. Remember that you can customize your workspace. Here's a screen shot of my current effort. Note that I don't use Smart Content.
