EMAIL to let one know there's been a response?

I was just wondering if there is a way to get an email when someone has something to say about something someone's written.

    Bookmark the thread, and make sure that the preferences in your profile are set to get an email
    You bookmark by clicking on the star, top right of the first post in the thread
    You access your profile by clicking on your user name, and then clicking on the gear Icon on that page click on edit profile and then click on Notification preferences.

    @JMCarrigan

    Bear in mind that you will get an email for every response in the thread.

    By default it should send an email for the first reply, then nothing more until you again visit the thread.

    Yes, that is how it works for me. Be sure you are logged in when you read the thread, so it knows you've read it, so it notifies you again when there is another new response.

    I stand corrected.

    Can't help wondering, are those two top Notifications options, about a "wall", unkillable defaults? IIRC this was discussed way back when DAZ was trying to get Magento to work (not well, just... work...) and it seemed to be something like the original concept of a Facebook page. And DAZ wasn't going to use it anyway. I'm sure it's confused people; it certainly confused me to begin with.

    yes  they can't get rid of them,  so we just have to ignore them.
