Change a piece of wardrobe's color?

Simple question, but probably a complicated answer...

I'd like to change the color of various pieces of clothing. I think there's a way, but I'm just not seeing it. In the Editor > Surfaces tab? I'm also guessing all pieces are capable of this feat. Anyone have a quick run-down?

For instance, I'd like to change this loin cloth from hideous purple to a deep crimson red...

    How? Thanks in advance.

PS-Oh, and tips on the object collision between the cloth and the leg would be much appreciated as well. :D

First check to see if the item included alternative materials.

If not then yes, in the Surfaces pane's Editor tab you can - for example - change the base/diffuse colour. Remember that it will multiply the new colour with any map already applied, so you probably couldn't turn the thing green that way. You can also click the micro-throumbnail next to the colour picker and select None from the menu to completely remove the map, leaving just the base colour, but that will be flat. Finally you can make your own texture, using the supplied templates (should usually be on the Product Library page for Daz store items) and apply them by again clicking the micro-thumbnail and this time selecting Browse...

    Most excellent.
Oh, and making my own texture! That sounds fun. I'm on the Product Libraby page... now how do I get the templates? Do I manually download them and edit them in Photoshop?

Yes, download, unzip somewhere you can find them, and open in Photoshop - they show the way the polygons lie on the map (remember you can scale the image, to make it bigger or smaller, but not crop or add extra pixels around the edges).
