Custom Transmap changing color of entire object in render!

I'm doing something with the Anemone feet, and I wanted the webbing between the toes to be partially transparent, so I created a custom transmap.  Before I add the transmap, the feet match relatively well with the main figure's legs.  However, when I add the transmap, even the areas of  the feet that are solid white on the transmap and should therefore be fully opaque change to a brighter color in the render.  How can I make it so that I have transparent webbing and the feet still match the legs?  If it matters, the render is Iray, and rather than using one of the textures that came with Anemone, the feet use a small rectangle cropped out of the leg texture images for base color and such.  Also, rather than using them for G2F as intended, they're autofitted to G8F with her normal feet and toes hidden.  Here're a couple screenshots from the viewport in NVIDA Iray mode:

My suspicion would be that it is changing the way the SSS is working because it has chnaged the way the webbing, which is aprt of the same mesh, allows light to pass. Are you working with the iray Uber Base shader, or are you using the original 3Delight shader?

Iray Uber Base shader.  Do you think it would work better if I changed the entire render to 3Delight?

    I don't know.

This was the Cutout Opacity that you were applying the map to?

    Yes, it was Cutout Opacity.

Are you sure you haven't cuaght the emissive settings? That's about all I can think of.

What do you mean by "caught" the emissive settings?

Also, I tried switching to 3DL, and that works a lot better.
