Diffuse overlay color

in Technical Help (nuts n bolts)

No matter what what kind of .png i will save in photoshop, when put into diffuse overlay color. the result is white. What am i doing wrong?

    that channel doesn't like transparency.  use a black/white image instead.

    I've had the same problem in the past, but I've found that you can use a map with a transparency - you might need to go into the Image Editor (left-click the Diffuse Overlay wieight Map select Image Editor) and change 'Grayscale From:' to a different option in the list. Normally Alpha will work, but if that doesn't try  'Average'. You could also check that the Gamma here is set to 0 rather than 1.
