What does maximum texture units mean?

Hi,
Can someone explain to me what maximum texture units are on my graphics card? I have a GTX 1060 6GB card and saw this looking around at the different panes at the top of daz studio. How does this relate to the size of scenes I can render? Most of my renders are of a single human figure, with clothes, hair, etc in outdoor or indoor settings. I don't use a lot of large or complex items in my scenes.
Thanks

I don't think it has anything to do with it. It's vRAM that matters.
And you will probably want to render one scene at a time.
It doesn't — "texture units" are individual texture images, the number is how many textures your graphics card will use on each material on each object in your scene.
And it's irrelevant to renders anyway, since this limit only applies to what your graphics card shows in the Viewport. Whenever you render in 3Delight or Iray, all the textures present in the scene will be used. The only time this limit affects a render is if you render in Basic OpenGL, which very few people do.
