Texture/Shader problems

1. When I bring into DAZ some objects (from other sources) they appear invisible. Though I can see their outline if I have the Surface tool selected and click on it. BTW: once in a while as I am trying to make it visible - it miraculously appears solid - but I have no idea what I did to make it appear. Does anyone know how to make these appear solid?

2. Why is it (if I do see the whole solid object in grey), and then manually apply its jpg texture or one of my shaders to it - I only get a solid color, e.g. if I apply a wood Iray shader that has wide wood grain streaks, it only appears as a solid brown. Likewise when I apply the grass jpg (that came with the object) all I get is a solid green ? But if I create a primitive in DAZ and apply the same Shader or jpg texture -  all of the wood grain or jpg grass texture shows just fine (See the comparison picts of the same jpg grass texture applied to the hedges and a plane primitive).

I assume that some setting must be set wrong, but I can't figure out which it is. Help!

Check the Opacity setting on the surfaces.

That sounds as if the model is not UV mapped.

You were correct! The object imorted properly and I was able to add the wood shader to it - Thanks
