"Jumping" issue is getting worse and worse... now affects moving objects / figures

Dear all,

The "jumping viewport issue" that was mentioned by many others gets worse and worse... by now, it affects me selecting objects or figures in the scene and trying to move them around with the universal tool arrows: every time I click on one of the arrows to, say, move a figure a bit down, it first jumps upwards and then I can move it... needless to say, this makes the whole program basically unsuable.

Does anybody have any ideas at this point? Support etc. seem to ignore it, since this is an issue that is a few months old by now.

What can I try?

Thank you,

M.

Not sure if this is your issue or not. But But sometimes I'm trying to set up the camera and I have it almost the way I want and I just want to rotate it a smidgen. I touch the rotate tool and the whole image jumps. Sometimes I'm underneath the scene or behind it. I think there is something in the scene that is causing this for some reason. Like the hair. I will hide the hair and things will be more responsive.

KevinH, thank you for the reply! Unfortunately though, that is not the issue... it is using the latest DS version (4.10) together with the latest Windows 10 version / with the latest Windows 10 update (at least that is how it looks right now)... I can import a single, low-poly object into the scene (or a single, basic, "bare" Genesis 3 or 8 character - to use something that DS should be very comfortable with), and the issue immediately starts.

It also seems the issue is non-existent in 4.8 or earlier, but unfortunately, those versions are not available to work with.

At this point, I have tested this further: if I start DS, the issue will NOT exist... all works fine... then, after about 3 minutes, it will suddenly start. It doesn't matter whether I change anything in the scene, but after moving around a bit, the issue will begin. Restarting DS will reset this, and it will work fine again for a bit... then it will fail again... always the same.

Complete reinstall (after LOTS of manual deletion)... only installed DS and Genesis 8... same issue. This product is currently broken and does not work with this version of Windows 10. Sad. Glad I spent hundreds of USD on it in the past weeks.

The jumping viewport issue has been present to some extent for a while, and is not exclusively a DS issue - other users have had problems with other applications.

It is exclusive to DS in my case too although it can look deceptively like a problem with another app because of the way DS causes I/O to bottleneck.

The jump when posing items is, or at least can be, a separate issue from the the issue with viewport navigation. The posing issue has been addressed, see the chnage log

Fixed an issue in transform tools (e.g., Universal Tool, Rotation Tool, Translation Tool, Scale Tool, Pose Tool, etc.) that caused them to suddenly “jump” if ERC driven properties (e.g., “pose controls”) were already applied

Thank you Richard, appreciate the attempt to help. Yes, they are two separate issues. No, they are not addressed, yet (whatever the changelog says).

Try for yourself: take a Genesis 8 figure and apply any morph that increases the basic "height" (y-translation) of the figure's hip joint (that would be the morphs for "size" or "leg length", basically). Now move the hip joint (or any connected joint) and you will see the figure "jump" upwards (increase the hip joint's y-translation) by exactly that increased size every time you try to position anything.

As was mentioned in other posts, support is aware of that since December last year - the answer was: "pin the hip joint", which of course is not possible if you want to move the figure via it's hip joint...

I didn't say the fix was available - not the version number in the chnage log is 4.11.0.148, the release build is only 4.10.0.123. I was pointing out that a fix is pending, not saying that one was released.

    Workaround for Camera Movment Jump:

Click and wait a short moment before you move the mouse.

    Something like Click, 1..., 2..., 3..., move.

Annoying, but works for me (Win 10 Pro 1709, latest Daz 4.10)
