Starting Over

I've been away from DAZ Land for awhile. I recently bought Floyd 8 and decided to reinstall everything from scratch. This time I decided to let DIM make things easier for me. But I cheated a bit, maybe!

I'll most likely use Genesis characters more than the older people characters. I created a new folder named "Genesis." I used DIM's filter to select any item with the word Genesis in it. Then I hunted for the files that didn't have "Genesis" in the name. (Michael 5, etc). I installed all those files. I also added some stuff I'd used in previous projects. I love the Moonshine Diner. etc.

Next I created a "People" folder, and installed all the "non-Genesis" people and their clothes and props. I created new folders called Animals, scenes, etc, and instaled the relevant stuff in those folders. I kept going over everything till it was all installed.

Now I'm tired and it's time for a nap. I always get exhausted quickly when I use DAZ Studio. laugh

I decided to restart too.  What I recommend is a strong WiFi or internet connection.

I have a fast internet connection with Comcast XFinity. I went through some problems because two of my hard drives were apparently corrupted. I think I fixed things. Now i'm starting the install over again!

Since you are using DIM, you could have installed the package "Install manager Default Filters" and select by generation. That should have made the filtering process muych easier.

    Thanks!

I'll try to remember that next time I install something.
