Emissives...

Is it possible to key any of the emissives properties in the timeline for an animation, such as Cutout Opacity, or Color? Thanks!

I have not had a chance to try that script yet, and I see you can adjust matierials and key surface properties but does keying these properties work on emissives? Thanks

I have see a few candles with emissve materials for the flames but does anyone know of a candle product that puts out light and has an animated flame that allows light to flicker with the animation? I work with both Iray and 3DLight so if there are products or freebies for either or both I need help finding them , Thanks!

Could anyone suggest a candle product the has animated flames and has realistic lighting. I'm looking for a candle product I can use for a scene in a Jazz Cub. Would it be better to just try to add canle light in something like after effects? Thanks!!

I was wondering if there is a way to control emmisive properties by keying on the timeline during an animation. Like opacity cut out or luminance level, to give the appearence of pulsing or flashing lights.

I would contact mcasual and ask? mcasual does great free scripts that are so useful but it is up to this individual to create this. You can find this person on the freebies forum.

    Silver,

I have contacted him a few times about other issues and he has always been helpful. I think you are right it will have to be a script to do it. I am really on the fence right now about whether to try to acheive this in DAZ or try to use a post work or composite solution. My problem is that I can get the character with animations, textures  and fully animated hair and clothing exactly the way I want it in DAZ, but lighting, effects smoke, atmosphere particles, lens flare are so hard to acheive in DAZ. There are specific products that make attempts to act real but ultimately are just mesh objects that add geometry and increase rendering time.

If you are animating I would try Carrara Pro. Daz Studio can do small animations but is not really greared for creating anything over a few seconds. I would also look at Blender for animations if you don't own Carrara, and even better Blender for Artists. This version of Blender has a better graphical user interface so you dont have to be a keyboard short cut wizard to be able to do anything. I like blender but the people who made the user interface for this program should be cast into the outer darkness. If you ever suggest to them the interface is broken they give you grief so I just use blender for artists which is blender but with a better interface. Oh and there is a manual and video tutorials for this software at the site. Here is a link>>> https://www.bforartists.de/

I do actually own Carrara Pro, and I have just started to fiddle with it again. The main issue I have right now is that most of the characters I have invested in are G3 based and I am goint through the process of figuring out how to get G3 into Carrara. I know that a G3 model has been made for Carrara but I'm not sure how to apply different textures and different morphs inside of Carrara. I actually love many of the features but getting things like aniblocks, virtual World Dynamics and scripts that I have grown used to work in Carrara are a challenge to say the least. Blender againg would present a challenge to getting content in. I am really looking into Hitfilm as a post edit solution for effects and lighting, but I am always reluctant to try the free stuff when they ask for email or social media info. At least I know I can get up to G2 content into carrara fairly easily.

The Model will work but the stuff that you for Daz studio will not. I use Lightwave myself so I just dabble in Carrara because I love the simplifed interface. Carrara's interface should be what all 3D software should emulate. That aside you should go to the Carrara forum and ask help from them there if you want to work with Genesis 3 inside of Carrara.

Well, my biggest issue with any of the programs is lighting. That is what causes the question about which platform. I have been able to get some really nice results with iray as long as the scene is stripped down to one light or else it takes an eternaty to render. I do mostly moody jazz club singers on stage, and retro style tv studio style singers on stage. Animations of course not just stills. DAZ does the people beautifully and renders fast if it is just one person, like 4 seconds per frame at high quality. Adding anthing in DAZ like a single emmisive surface or somthing like atomcam each frame goes up to 4 to 6 minutes a frame. My animations tend to be in excess of 10,000 frames. What to do..................What to do. I'd love to get the atmosphere, stage, lighting effects particles (candle flames) in a program like Iclone, or carrara and combine it with the character rendered in DAZ but where could I combine them. I think maybe Hit Film but I never used that before.

I have Iclone 7 myself great idea use a 3D game engine for animation. I would look at doing animations in this program. You can inport genesis 3 models with 3dexchange and there is great tools for special effects and the render engine works well. If you are doing a scene with crowd Iclone has great low poly crowd models and the render engine does not hurt from rendering dark images like Iray. If you want to speed up your Iray renders I would suggest using HDRI images for lighting and use a modeling program to make sure the roof of your room is open so you can let the light in. Otherwise render night scene in 3delight and the subject of your render in Iray and composit. This is for stills. If you are animating I would go with Carrara Pro or Iclone.

  • As long as the candle prop you're using has a mesh for the flame that can have dForce applied to it, you can make it dynamic and place a dForce Wind Node under it to make it flicker. A moving transparent primitive like a small plane or sphere with a cloud-type texture (some clear areas and some clouded areas) near/around the flame can simulate the changes in light intensity.

Porsimo's Morphing Flames product also has a mesh flame that can work for candle flame, and can be made into a dynamic surface with dForce, which can be affected with a Wind Node. They can also be set as Emissives.
