Using the Smoothing modifier Is there a way to smooth only certain areas?

Using the Smoothing modifier Is there a way to smooth only certain areas? For example with muscular characters if you put on too much smoothing the muscle definition goes away. What I'd like is to turn on smoothing for certain areas or target certain surface groups in the geometry editor around the joint areas.

No, it would be a nice feature (and I have a featrue request in for it), but I don't know if the algorithm used could be weighted.
You can export the result of the full body Smoothing Modifier as OBJ. Then select the figure add a dFormer, switch the influence to weightmap to paint the areas you want to smooth later.
Next use the MorphLoaderPro to import the full body smoothing OBJ and select the dFromer in the Attenuate By options.
