Transparency from alpha channel in Diffuse Color channel?

Hello!
I have created a skirt texture with tiny transparent regions. They should be see-through.
The texture is saved as PNG with Alpha channel like this:
I thought that simply putting this PNG into the Diffuse Color slot would do what I want.
However, that's not the case. The transparent regions become white.
Is there a way to have DAZ automatically do what I want, or do I have to create another texture just to tell DAZ where I want my transparency?
Thank you!

I got it. In GIMP, I simply clicked "Convert to Grayscale", then I inverted the image and saved it as a jpeg.
Usually you do have to create a seperate transparencey texture and plave it in the opacity or cutout opacity slot
