please use this thread to post quick ideas that helped you reduce or get rid of crashes in DS 4.x

here's Tip #1

- reboot the PC before starting to work in DS4.x

experimental conditions:

i was loading a DS3 scene, containing a custom-textured Aiko3, Mitsu hair, the leotard i made

I started modifying Aiko3's pose or loading a different pose, and DS4.6 would crash
.
I tried this about 5 times

i rebooted my PC and could work on the same scene way longer without crashing

rebooting also seems to solve cases where DS4.6 becomes slow

just closing / re-starting Daz Studio itself doesn't seem to help

maybe it's because i use a mix of Blender, DS3 and DS4 and eventually they grab memory from OpenGL or the video card and don't give it back

here's Tip #2

- Try older or newer versions of your graphics card driver.

experimental conditions: With my GeForce AGP card, Daz Studio 3 in the WinXP days, reverting to a 1 year older version of the graphics driver was crucial. Maybe because of the way the driver was "answering" when interrogated by Daz Studio about capabilities.
