Switching between two monitors to one and back

I have a notebook and an external monitor.  When I am at home I want to have DS set up one way utilizing the second monitor but when I am not home or want to watch a video or something I want to keep DS on one monitor.  Obviously to me I cannot bring my external monitor with me, but I got a notebook for portability usage.

basically is there a way to save and easily switch between screen layouts?  One for single monitor usage and another for dual monitor usage? And possibly a third or fourth in case I want to watch a tutorial or a movie on computer at same time playing with DS or other circumstances?

I once suggested you to create another interface Layout with the use of the Activities feature that you can quickly switch with shortcuts.
