Need help with the Daz Studio/Photoshop connection.

I've been trying to figure out how to get Daz Studio and Photoshop to talk to each other.  I have Daz Studio 3D 4.10 (64 Bit) and Photoshop CS6.  I installed the Photoshop Bridge to Daz.  In Daz, under the file menu I have the "Initiate Photoshop 3D Bridge" option.  I checked tutorial videos, read stuff, and still get incomplete information.  For instance...

1.  What exactly does it do?  What is its purpose?

2.  How do I get it to work?

3.  Do I design an object in Photoshop 3D and export it as an .obj file, then open it in Daz?  If so, how do I keep the colors?  Right know when I open the file in Daz it's WAY too big (I scale it down several times), and it's neutral in color.  For instance, I created a control panel in 3D Builder, added a metal pattern in Photoshop and I want to add some controls to it, but I don't think it will transfer over to Daz that way.  The pattern didn't.

Any help will be appreciated.

Once initialised in DAZ Studio there should be a PS camera loaded, open PS and go to File/Automate/DAZ Studio 3D Bridge. This will open a pop-up menu with various items to select. The only one I have used is the Import Image Maps which opens another pop-up with all the Image Maps loaded into the scene so that you can choose one or all and do various image manipulations on them, the same as you would any image. You can then either export or save as. Export saves to the original texture folder and adds a numerical number to the original texture but leaves the original, save as lets you rename your image and save it in the original folder.

I don't have "DAZ Studio 3S Bridge" option under File/Automate.  And before you ask, yes...I did install the bridge.  Is there some special way to install it?

I am using PS CS4 (64bit) and it is there under Automate. The only thing I can think of is your CS6 64 bit or 32 bit? I don't know if that would make a difference.

Could be.  It looks like there's no tech help from the makers, just customers helping each other.  I can't find any up-to-date how-to videos nor any printed materials.  The makers just put it up without any instructions.

I was wondering, I want to create scenes from a book series I'm writing.  My problem is designing things, like the buttons on a control panel.  I was thinking using Photoshop to draw and paint the buttons but I can't see how to do that.  I think I need the 3D bridge working for that.  Or is there another way?  I do have 3D Paint from Microsoft.  Would that be better.  Just open the object file, paint it, and save the file?  I tried to do that with Photoshop but it seems it saves everything NOT as a object file.
