How to use my GPU ( GTX 1060 6 GB) with iray ? [SOLVED]

Guys do any of you know how to make my GPU work with Iray renderings 'cause my i3 processor sucks at it .__.
My GPU is showing in advance rendering settings but its clearly not being used in the process:(

It works fine with Blender though

Any Help ?

Uncheck the CPU so only your GPU is selected then try again.

EDIT: Oh and make sure you have the latest Drivers i have had some issues with OpenGL on older drivers.

Task manager's readout does not seem reliable in this respect - I suspect it is using something beyond actual workload to calculate its figure as for me it shows only single-digit use while GPU-Z shows 100% load, and the fan is whirring vigorously.

You need to select the correct output in Task Manager. I usually go where it says "3D" and from the arrow/dropdown I select "Compute_0" instead to see the GPU usage.

Also, if your GPU is running out of RAM then maybe that 's why it's going to CPU instead to render. In Task Manager under the GPU, look at the "Dedicated GPU Memory Usage" and if it's getting up near the 6GB capacity maybe it's dumping to CPU rendering.

  • Guys can you be more specefic what correct settings am i missing ?
I did unchecked the CPU in rendering settings but then nothing renderes and there is no CPU USAGE

I did unchecked the CPU in rendering settings but then nothing renderes and there is no CPU USAGE

    1) Turn on OptiX. This accelerated videocard raytracing, without OptiX rendering will be very slow (respectively software raytracing on CPU and hence a strong CPU load). OptiX supported by standard nvidia drivers on GF5xx and higher.
    2) Expand the "History" in the window of the render process. There is written about quite detailed information about rendering: CPU or GPU, for example. Well, the amount of memory used can also be viewed there: textures (mostly) + geometry + light, then simple arithmetic.
    3) If the total amount of used memory is more than can fit in the memory of the video card, there will still be a transition to the CPU-rendering, even if it is disabled in the configuration.

Thanks for the reply i got working anyway :)

since i was using daz studio 4.8 i came to know that nvidia's pascal architecture doesn't work with the old versions of daz studio xD so now i'm using daz 4.10

and its using the cuda cores :)
