I will open my saved scene and my character will load without showing any of the textures

But I can render it and the textures are there, and when I switch to a another tab

It doesn't seem to want to show up in the Actors tab

    Sounds like you have changed the preview mode - you can do that with the keyboard (ctr(Win)/cmd(Mac)-9 will get you back to textured preview, you may have hit another digit at some point in error) or click the little sphere icon in the view controls at the top of the viewport.
