    @ the savage : very nice image. 6 hours to render are long to calculate this picture but the result is stunning.

    Yes Horo, transparency leaves and tons of them... Layers upon layers. With it only in the mid distance, it's high detail isn't really noticeable. I've decided that I'll only use it in future if it can be pushed right to the front with the majority of it hanging off the side, out of shot. :)

    LOL, that what I did the only time I used it.

    @Trish, the horse and dog render came out very well indeed, interesting composition, I think though I'd have avoided the vertical symmetry and put the noses meeting in the left third of the image.     @Dave, another wonderful looking render, highly plausible, the tree seems a bit "heavy", but to give it a lighter feel you need to employ even more processor melting techniques. As used cleverly by Rashad in this wonderful image http://www.bryce5.com/details.php?image_id=4237&mode=search

    @Jamie, it's great to see you getting your teeth into all those Wings3D tutorials. When I embark on these projects I think maybe I'm wasting my time, but seeing someone get some use out of them makes me think otherwise. Thanks for trying them out.

    Right, here's a "quick" 6 hour render from me. Bryce first, then Octanes that was finished in a few minutes. Based on my recent Wings3D tutorials. Just mixed and matched a couple here.

    Really convincing materials on the Octane render... Bryce one looks like it may need the 'glass' tube smooothing.
    It's a great, intriguing shape in both renders.

    Thanks yes, the glass tube is unsmoothed. It's a weird bug that keeps cropping up, the objects behave when they are initially loaded but loose their smooth when the scene is reloaded. Unfortunately the complexity of the model means that it can't just be smoothed away in Bryce. At this level, Bryce tends to hang if given such a demanding smooth operation.

    As well as that, I've been working on Horo and mines current project. Vegetation. Here's some examples.

    That's not true and that shouldn't be there. That's something DAZ 3D is supposed to have fixed, but you know what the new website it like, it's got a mind of it's own.

    I complained about that right at the first day when it came up and I was promised to have it removed. Obviously, it has not.

    Thanks for the comments on the Generator room its still a work in progress, I have more equipment to model for it once I get my focus back to we (go away for a weekend and now I have to figure out where I was going with the scene... )

    yeah the dragon looks good, the ground not so much, tried to get the right mix of textures for the "pooled water on the uneven surface look" and it didn't turn out so well.

    Thank you David for the video. I actually found it on YouTube before returning here as I was looking for your tutorials on skin. Looking forward to the product.
    BTW - S J Hayes 2 - Just my initials and last name with a 2 because there is someone in this world that took sjhayes before me. I'll get around to changing it to something more meaningful eventually.:-)

    Latest grasses from David looking excellent... spurred me on with my next render (not really going to call this a doodle as it was slightly more involved. Also knicking c-ram's concept of sunset in the woods (though I hasten to add, mine no where near as detailed or well lit as his).

    The result is grass and flowers not as good as David's in woodland not as good c-ram's with a character not as good Chohole's :lol:

    You know, it's not always the most elaborate scene that looks the best. I had one done and rendered in 5 minutes and the peers were quite enthusiastic. Yours looks very natural, I really do like it. Just the right amount of haze.

    That blue glass bunny turned out well, really like the subtle refraction and hues.

    Hello, my name is Rob. I have been using Bryce off and on for several years. I have also been watching the videos posted by Horo and Dave Brinnen. I am submitting some renders based on Dave's Mobius loops videos and also his Ringed Wings3d Things videos for review by people more skilled than I. The models in the renders are creating using Wings3d. They were lit using some of Horo's HDRI light probes (from the Pro Content files and Mentoring DVD). They were rendered using TA at either 36 or 64 rays per pixel (that's the best my computer can handle if I don't want to wait hours for the renders to complete). I would rate my skill level somewhere between Beginner and Intermediate but I do have delusions of mediocrity. I welcome advice on improving my skills.

    Thanks David! I always look at your video with interest and this one is another good techniques tutorial.

    I'm going to use it in one of my next render.

    @ the savage : your wood is good looking to me, the trees just need to be taller be the all environment is charming.

    @ mermaid : thank you, pleased that my pictures have catch your attention.

    @ horo : I agree with you : a scene doesn't always need to be full of details to fire our eyes. Sometime pictures with only one detail have good style.

    @Trish: Love that image, the meeting of the minds. Or how to get your muzzle cleaned in one easy lesson. :)

    @Dave: Your first image makes me want to go find my swim suit. Tree in that scene really look good. Second image is also really nice. I love the color of those flowers.

    @David: Those two latest object images are really great. I usually favor Bryce over Octane in most of the renders, but in this case both have obvious merits when make both really nice. The ground in the Octane image actually looks like stucco. The grasses are super, luck with sales on the product. And thanks, those type objects do peek my interest. I've yet to watch your latest videos because I was playing with materials and textures today.

    @Rareth: Dragon looks super good. It actually looks like it's setting on a cloth or wrapping paper.

    @mermaid: Thanks, accidents do happen. Love that wrabbit, shadows and refraction really turned out well.

    @Pam: Terrain is stunning. It appears a storm is a brewing.

    @Rob: Nice looking objects and material. Add some ground cover/background to match or compliment and WOW. Nice work.

    Using David's ring tutorials as a guide I created my own ring thingy and used today to play around with material/texture. All are 64 RPP, 4 MRD, premium with TA, default lighting with an HDRI using the existing sky. I was not really concerned with lighting but more with material/textures which worked well together. The last two have a material applied to the terrain which makes it look like water, but it's only a glass material applied to a terrain with an undulating surface. I used a material on the image in one of the water looking terrain images which is black but the texture of the material in on the inside of the inner part. It isn't earth shattering but I thought it sort of interesting.
