Olympia 8 promo vs My Daz Iray

IceScribeIceScribe Posts: 694

I decided to get Olympia 8 for the Victoria Birthday sale. I like the promo picture, but my render looks matte orange all over the bodyskin. It took me a while to realize I didn't need to apply the G8 eyebrows, because no eyebrows show in the preview. So I figured that one out. But, why is my render of the default figure in Iray matte and orange? I have attched a copy of the DAZ promo, and my render. I don't think my gal looks very nice. She looks like a mannikin.

    It looks like they

    1) Changed the gloss setting on the skin & even more on the lips. There is liable several preset makeup options that will make the face & lips more glossy

    2) That lighting looks like the product BOSS Pro Light Set - https://www.daz3d.com/boss-pro-light-set-for-portraits-promos

    @nonsuch00,

    thank you for the tips. The thing is, this was a direct load from the menu, and then  I did use preset 01 for the face, and though the icon shows 'glossy' lips, they did not change from the default. Well it's good to know I can tweak it, but this is the only G8 figure I've purchased from DAZ that is not like their promotion page.

    Well the thing is on a lot of presets you have to do more than just click the preset. For shader/material presets in particular you usually have to:

    1) Select in the Scene that the figure you want to change the skin for.

    2) Select in the Surfaces tab the surface you want to change or the entire character to select all the surfaces of the characer. So for example select the 'Genesis 8 Female' or 'Olympia 8' and then double click the preset that you want to use to change eye color or makeup options. I don't have sure I don't know the character's name in the Scene tab. The name in the surfaces tab for a model will match the name for the model in the scene tab.

    1) It looks like if you're using Olympia 8's textures, that you may possibly have loaded 3delight materials. Make sure you loaded Iray.

    2) It looks like default lighting. Lighting will have an incredible impact on a render. Use good lighting and/or a good HDRI. In my example, I used an HDRI set by CakeOne and Bob. I think it's the Old Gate. For sake of expediency, I stopped before it was fully rendered

    The skin does have orangish tones. I went into surfaces and selected Skin and pulled down the saturation on the Transmitted color.
