Scene getting very dark when zooming camera

I'm working on a scene using the FG Modern Casa Bundle.
I haven't changed lighting but I did add two G8 characters. When I zoom one of the many cameras included with the scene the scene gets very dark (camera light is on). I've noticed this with other sets in a previous version of DAZ Studio with two characters, as well. I've never been able to figure out what causes it (I'm in Texure Render for posing, etc., ).
Has anyone else seen this and if so, is there a fix?
Thanks!
Scott

The headlamp is offset from th camera, so when you zoom close enough the things in view are on the edge of, or even outside, the light.
Unfortunately, there is no offset shown in the camera headlamp settings. It makes complete sense that offset could be the cause, though.
You should see something like this

You'll be better of in the long run by turning the headlamp off permanantly and just relying on scene lighting. If the viewport looks dark/black without the headlamp, toggle the preview lighting (CTRL-L)
That's exactly what I see. :)

I'll try that, thanks! The scene lighting in Texture Shaded does not light the scene. I can only see how lighting is when I render the preview pane using IRay, or if I actually render. That's posing to be an issue, too. Because the basic scene is complex, the renders are very slow (I have a 1080i GTX) compared to less complex scenes.

CTRL-L works beautifully! Thank you!

While CTRL-L works great for illumating a scene in Texture mode, it doesn't solve the problem with the scene getting dark as the camera zooms in. It helps some, but the scene still gets dark. For example, I'm posing fingers and in order to get a view where I can see the finger properly, I have to zoom. When I zoom, the fingers get really dark, sometimes to the point of being too dark to position properly.
Does this clear up the problem I'm having?
Thanks again, in advance.

You don’t have to zoom the camera. Zoom the perspective view. Lighting shouldn’t change when in perspective view.
I'll give that a shot, thanks!

Yeh wsgentry, this was bugging me for a long time. What I found was that if you select a body part and then click on View:Frame (LMB), the camera will zoom that part (as it should) and you can then move the camera as close as you like without the dredded darkness thing happening. I have no idea why this works because you are using the same camera... but it does.
Thanks for the tip! :) I still get this from time to time and will be sure to check out your solution!
