Bright theme and High DPI support for the Daz Studio UI on Windows
Is there a bright theme for Daz3D? The dark theme is killing my eyes. The default DarkSide "style" is the worst. The Highway style is a bit better, but there is still too much dark stuff.
And combined with the text blurriness in the UI on my high DPI displays, I can't use it for more than an hour or two without getting extreme eye strain, because the eyes constantly try bring the blurred text into focus.
Yes, I can disable the automatic DPI scaling for the application from Windows, and the blurriness goes away, but then the text is so small I can't read it on my 3.5K display, even with the "main street" style.
Is there any work in progress to support high resolution/high DPI displays, and is there any bright theme available?
Because I can't work in it when it's looking like this:

You can change the colours of Studio to fit your needs. I think there's no "light theme" in general, though.
The text size, I don't know, my screen isn't that large. :-)
Thanks, I have already looked at the options for customizing the colors, and the customization dialog looked too confusing, but since there is no other alternative, I gave it another try.
So, I made the obvious changes, replaced the dark colors with light colors, and light colors with dark colors. That kind of worked, with one exception, that made it impossible to create a light theme:
The text input fields, those used to manually enter numbers, text, etc., have a hardcoded white background. Normally that wouldn't be a problem for me, after all that's what I want, a light background.
But, while the background of the text input fields is hardcoded to white, the text color is not hardcoded as well to black, or a dark color, but instead it uses the "Darkest color" setting from the style customization dialog.
This means that, after customizing the "Darkest color" as the lightest, the text in the text input fields becomes unreadable, because now I have white text on a white background.
Even the text fields from the color selection dialog used to customize the style become unreadable:
This means I can't make the theme as bright as I would want, unless I accept ending up with unusable text input fields.
So, if any devs are reading this, the hardcoding for the background color of the text input fields should be replaced with the "Lightest color" or "Light color" setting from the style customization dialog.
Until then, unfortunately I won't be able to create a light theme, so for the time being I'm giving up on using Daz3D.
Well, the styles are handeled here: C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 Public Build\resources\layouts
There are dsx files that can be opened with a text editor. However, I have no idea as to what goes where.
I strongly recommend that you put in a support ticket with customer support, describing your problem, as here in the forum all you get is fellow users.
Thanks for the help, I'll contact support.
Any update? I just installed DAZ 4.10 and it's just like a dark fog, and I need to go out and buy a microscope to be able to read the type. Install dialog boxes was more guessing than reading.
Who did this? There's so many things wrong with the interface I could fill a whole list. I can't work with this... I mean physically impossible to work with this :-(
That looks legible from the screen shot - are you suer your display settings are not extreme? Have you tried chnaging the style in Window>Style>Select Style?
I agree with Alfonsgrabher, the display is tough for some people with vision problems. I suffer from astigmatism as well as 'old eyes' and need more contrast to reduce eye strain. Light gray text on a dark gray background may look 'cool' but it is a stupid color choice and should be made easily changeable.
