Not sure what you were doing before, but spotlights, distant lights and point lights are ineffective when selecting Sun-Sky Only mode. Selecting Dome and Scene mode then setting the Environment Map to None will force Sun-Sky environment and allow Scene lights.

Sorry, missed that there was a second page (or had the page sitting open for a while and there wasn't) The Environment Mode is still set to Dome and Scene?

This isssue was never addressed by DAZ, iray engine crap itself out at different secne, so inconsistant.

  • I just purchased "Touch of Egypt" (Product 13993). If I make a new empty scene with the touch of egypt product, everything renders black, right out of the box.

It has a skydome that appears in the scene heirarchy. If I make it invisible or delete then the scene renders, but with no sky.

I then go to the render settings tab > environment > dome and add the sky jpg to the environment map and all is as it should be.

  • Hey All,

just discovered that Virtualization turned on CPU will create a black render screen after the first render and slowed down the viewport a lot.

Turn off virtualization from BIOS if possible and all works fine again... (I tried to mine a bit of coins) :)

  • Problem solved... I had to do a re-install via the Daz Install Manager - probably the denoiser got corrupted... All good now.

  • I've had the same problem, I've recently updated the nvidia drivers and computer "lost" the graphic card and as in Daz3d only Nvidia was marked to render, nothing worked as it should. After installing proper drivers everything was fixed

  • Hello, I try rendering when I finish my design and the first time, I got a blurry image. The next time, all I got was a blank page. Nothing at all. This is my first time using daz and doing 3d in general. I have not added any lights or cameras to my scene, my render settings according to a friend are perfect as well. What could be the issue? I downloaded the software via DazIM and I installed only 35 items from the list, some items in the manager are not downloaded or installed yet, could that contribute in anyway to why my renders are not working? Or is it a system issue? I use a MacBook Air, Mac OS Sierra version 10.12.4 with a 1.86 GHz Intel core duo processor. Nvidia GeForce 320M 256MB. I've laid it all out, what could be the issue please?

Judging by the SKU, this product is an early pre- Iray product.  It will not work progerly in Iray, however, it will work with 3Delight.  You can delete the skydome and put in your own HDRi Map if you want it to work in Iray.

There are different ways that can cause this problem. Old Sky Domes, Incorrect lighting, something in between the camera etc.....

But I think the original question here is the same as the problem I get, which is none of the above.

I load a character, then some clothing, I then often play about with different textures or shaders on the clothing. Every now and then I try a render, and all is ok, I also have the main screen on Iray Render view and see the Iray textures.

Then for no aparent reason the Iray texture fail to load, all textures grey.

Now when I try to render all I get is a black screen, No attempt by Iray to render.

I have not changed the camera or lights or anything, just the textures of the clothing.

I think this is either caused by the graphic card memory or Iray engine getting filled or corrupted somehow.

Often saving the scene, exit Daz, reloading the scene and it will render ok.

Edit: CPU only will render very slowly when Iray fails
