Saving geometry shell for geograft

Hi,

I made a geograft for g8f and a geometry shell for it. My problem is saving the shell with its own materials.

-If I make a shell for g8f with my geograft attached I get all the material groups but when I try to save it as wearable I get to choose the shell and when I go to the materials it only offers to save g8f material groups but no geograft materials.

-If I make the shell for the geograft alone I get only geografts materials but thats what I need and when I save it it saves the materials because save dialog offers me to save only geografts materials wich is what I need but then when I load it I need to select the geograft in the scene pane and not Genesis 8 female for it to work.

So my question is how to make and save a shell that will keep my geografts material groups but can be loaded properly with Genesis 8 Female selected in the scene pane?

I will try to add more info.

    my "scene":

      -Genesis 8 Female(or compatible character)

             -Geograft

                        -Shell

I have genesis 8 female with its 16 surfaces and my geograft that has 2 surfaces. I need to have a geometry shell around part of the geograft. I do that using cutout opacity map that spans those two surfaces only on the shell.

I need to be able to load that shell with g8f selected in "scene" pane and to get this I must create a shell with g8f selected in "scene". Doing that I get a shell which has all 18 surfaces of which I need only 2(geografts surfaces) but when I try to save it as wearable window opens asking me to select which figure to save  and has materials tab in which you have to tell it to save materials and then which surfaces. Problem is that it only offers me g8f´s 16 surfaces although the shell has 18 (g8f 16 + geograft 2).

My product is finished otherwise and this stupid problem is making it and me look stupid. It makes my product less user frendlly then competition.

    Please help?

Have you tried other "Save As" options? Perhaps "Save As -> Support Asset -> Figure/Prop Asset"?

No, don't do that for saving items that already exist.

Ser you are a genius. It worked. As a figure/prop asset. I cant belive I havent tried that. And as I can tell it still works as a shell not a figure. Thats brilliantly simple and I lost a week over it.

I dont know is that the only way to do it but its still a shell and I was certain it will make it a prop/figure (have geometry).

And you Daz3d please hire someone to write some more manuals because using Daz Studio is like inventig stuff, dont get me wrong I love inventing stuff but more info PLEASE. Otherwise great software, thank you.

Thank you JonnyRay once again for your interestinglly simple but effective advice.

Sorry, why? It, as far as I can tell, works.

Because it breaks the link to the original items, meaning new morphs and so on won't be added.

OK. But if I finish the product, all the morphs, JCMs... then create the shell, save it as figure/prop asset it should work until I try to add more options to the geograft.

Am I right? The shell covers only part of the geograft, nothing else.
