search feature not working

plain and simple, the daz4 search feature will not work. nothing comes up when searching files or database, even stuff i know i have. i've stopped and restarted the CMS, and nothing seems to help.

    If Search is broken then your Smart Content should be broke as well, those and Categories all require the CMS to be working. If the Smart Content is working I'm pretty sure it's not all working. But if you do have Smart Content with only the search feature failing please, let me know if you can Search for a item you know is smart like a item from the Genesis Starter package. You could just have a damaged Database file which can be fixed with two steps.

    smart content not working either. it was all working fine when i last used daz

    Have you had any Updates to your PC? Any OS updates or Anti Virus updates to be precise?

    antivirus, but it stopped working before that was updated.

    With DS closed, hold down your Windows key and press R, type in services.msc and hit enter to get into your Services window. Click the Name header to sort the list alphabetically and look for DAZ Content Management Service and make sure it's running, it will say "Started" in the Status column.

    You can also find this information by pressing CTRL - SHIFT - ESC to quick launch your Task Manager and find DAZContentManagementService in the list on the Services tab. It will say Running or Stopped in the Status column.

    If it's not, launch it via Start Menu > All Programs > Daz 3D > Daz Content Management Service > Start DAZ Content Management Service.

    Now launch DS and see if the service is shutting itself off as DS opens (Started will change to Stopped in the Services window).

    If it stops at DS Open it is more often than not a CMS Database error.

    seems to be working, but not everything shows up in either database or file during a search

    Not everything has metadata yet, either.
