Dson Questions

edited December 1969 in New Users

So I've been using daz for a while, and I love it cuz I can finally show people what I see and the way I picture things. But then the Genesis model came along and it brought these duf and Dson files with it. I'm wondering if I need to download the dson importer to get some of the content to show up in the contents folder. Fyi, I've never used poser so this just left me confused....I've also looked over the user guide but not understanding at all.

DSON stands for Daz Studio Object Notation. It's another way of saying 'DUF files' which Daz Studio supports out of the box. The DSON importer is designed to allow Poser users to import Daz products into their software, and thus has no real purpose if you are not a Poser user.

Genesis is a figure which can be downloaded as part of the 'Genesis Starter Essentials' pack you will have access to in your downloads if you have purchased Daz Studio (even if it was 'free' it still counts as a purchase), along with the recent Genesis Female 2 Starter Essentials which includes the new Genesis 2 Female figure.

In short, you needn't concern yourself with the DSON importer unless you decide to move to Poser, and Genesis is freely available to current Daz Studio users.

is there some kind of tutorial I should be reading? Because sometimes my dson files don't show up in my daz content library?

Which products specifically? Remember that most things from materials to clothing products are considered 'DSON files'. If something isn't appearing, ensure it's been installed to the correct content folder.

DSON really is a notation that it is DS format WITH Poser CF's (Companion Files) to use the item in the DSON plugin for DSON compatible versions of Poser. Do not assume that only DSON items work in DS, not all content is DSON (IE Poser) ready. Nor does all content NEED DSON and CF files to work in DS and Poser. Only the DAZ Studio content that comes in DATA only format will be DSON, and possibly have CF installs. Some items come in All the formats but not all of them.
