Doing this wrong??

Hey all!  I just purchased an awesome item on sale;  https://www.daz3d.com/laguna-mermaid-set-for-genesis-3-female-s .  Well, for some reason, when I put it on my Gen 3 female model, I get a big spot on the hip that is sans color.  It shows up in render as well.  I'll attach a pic so you can see.  I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong?  Or is there some way I can message the creators to get some advice?  It's gotta be something I'm doing, I just can't figure out what it is.  :p  Thanks all in advance!

Did you apply the skin texture to the tail? See the read me:

    • Load Genesis 3 Female, make sure she's selected.

    • Load “Mermaid A Load all” or “Mermaid B Load all” (depending on which top you want).

    • Select the Tail (by clicking on it or by selecting it from the Scene pane) Make sure you are not applying to the geo-graft. )

    • Apply the skin texture that you want to the tail and to the figure.

    • Select the figure and apply one of the “All” texture presets, or add a GeoShell and a Top/Bra preset separately.

  • I am, but the skin texture isn't loading into the tail.  I can mess with the texture/skin in surfaces but I can't get it to match exact because it makes me choose from a mat?  Or like... a flat skin?  I can't just use the skin that I used on the model with a double click.  Is there a way to manually do this?

Are you using skin textures made for the base figure, or that use an alternative UV set, or that were made for a different figure?

  • I have tried using both.  My first try was the base genesis 3 skin but I had been using another downloadable content that allowed me to layer skin types, scatter bases, etc.  I tried using another character skin as well but it did not load automatically.  I ended up getting it to work but for the love of me, I cannot recall exactly how I did it.  I think I had to go to surfaces and create some sort of base color that looked almost exactly like the upper torso.  I still think I'm just doing something completely wrong.  >.o

You can also go to the gen 3 model copy the torso settings and paste it onto the tail torso.
