Okay I find out that there really is not any open source animals, so what about tutorials for making animals in Hexagon or Zbrush or Blender? Thank you for any help.

At FarmPeeps.com I made a Pig and Catish at FarmPeeps that are free to use and distribute in 3d Game or 2D Render. You can mod them, and redistribute with a game. You can copy its rig and use its walk gait and swim motions. You can do what you want with your derivations. You can link to the source however please dont "sell" or distribute as discrete item. That way the creator (me) maintains control and gets credit for the originating source.
More animals coming
ShareCG is a good source. Also check the Free thread here at DAZ. Lots of freebies turn up in the forums here.
She is looking for Open Source Anne. Not much of that around when it comes to model meshes.
What about tutorials for making animals that can be used in Hexagon or Zbrush or Carrara?
For textures try Texturemate.com but be sure to read their TOS. They do require registration but it's free.
I don't think I've ever run across any open source animal figures.

No what you do is use things like Hexagon to make your own models of animals.

I was just asking for tutorials for Hexagon to make my own models of animals. Sorry for the confusion.
This tutorial is for modelling in Carrara, but I think you might find it helpful anyway.

How to make a cute little cat creature.
Specifically for Hexagon, the closest I've see would be how to box model a car in Hex on You Tube (sorry I don't have a link for it).
The biggest thing you need when modelling an animal is knowledge of animals anatomy.
Jack Hamm's book on how to draw animals is pretty good.

the manual for Hex has info on making animals - also there are examples you can import
to use .
Not a tutorial per sa but there are some modeling tips for modeling an animal, specifically a bulldog, in Hexagon here.
Pretty sure there's plenty of tutorials for rigging an animal in Blender, Zbrush, and if you're feeling adventurous in more ways than one, 3DS Studio, at the very least. Hexagon isn't generally used for anything other than props and a poorman's program for clothing models, due to its extreme primitiveness and bugginess-- and even then, it's only used because it's a direct go-between with DAZ and (up until a few months ago) was free unlike Zbrush which costs more than 200 bucks (though the Zbrush go-between app is buggy, unlike the Hexagon one.)
Kulay you might find this TOOL easier to use to Make your animal Meshes. Then you could use DS4.6 to rig them.

just checked - the manual comes with 186 videos .
I can try out the demo to see how easy it is before buying it. I just hope I use the demo enough to see if it is worth it.

I am not at my computer right now. At the library actually. Where do I find the Hexagon manual?
Registered there but have not taken the time to find the TOS. I did see there is a forum so maybe I can find the right spot to ask what I can and cannot do with the textures.
Thanks for this reference. I hadn't seen it before. I'm going to give it a try.
Sorry to add confusion. I thought she might find something in the resources I mentioned.

It is okay. It is always a good reminder of ShareCG. Can I use that site to host my files for background pictures?

Yes, just be 'very clear' that they are 'for texturing 3D models' or they may get pulled if not put in the 'this is artwork photography' section.
I am thinking of making a toon line of animals. Also toon Pegasus wings maybe for Diamond and Horse 2. I say toon because I do not know how realistic I can get them. My first animal is a toon feline.
Is there a way to have DSON work on custom figures? Also is there a way to have the conformed items follow a custom figure with custom morphs? For example I make a toon feline and then give it wings or a collar, but then make morphs for something small as a kitten to as a big as a big lion or panther?
Essentials IMHO for learning how to use some of the tools in D/S for rigging figures.

And they're on sale atm :-)
Haven't used DSON myself but it seems to me that there was something about creating such files in D/S for DSON. If that is so, I would think so.
AFAIK, technically yes it should follow. However there are areas to be aware of as auto-follow can be turned off too.
