Posing vs Shaping

As a newbie I am still learning, in the tabs when a figure is loaded and selected I have parameters, shaping, posing etc...now my question is if I am "morphing" the figure using the shaping dials to create a unique face/figure this is then saved and retained the next time I load the figure, correct? I can then "pose" by adjusting the parameters dials and presets in the parameters tab but not in shaping...do have this right?

    1) If you save the scene as a scene or a scene-subset or the character as a character or scene-subset but if you load the original character again it will look like the original character before you applied morphs.

    2) Parameters tab has all the shaping & posing dials in one place but you can find most shaping and most posing dials in the Shaping Tab and Posing Tab respectively.  Sometimes, with old DAZ characters you will have that posing or shaping dials are only in the paramters tab and only if you click in the bone that describes that body part - like if you click the head on 3DU Toon Giraffe is the only time you'll see the head shaping controls of the Toon Giraffe if I remember correctly. Also in some of those old models you'd see poses as shaping dials because back then I believe they actually did the poses using a combination of both poses and morphs, the 3DU Giraffe is also example, but nowadays with mostly do poses using bones and weightmaps.

Note that Posing dials and Shaping dials are both Parameter dials — everything will show in the Parameters tab, but each dial includes a setting that defines whether it will also show in the Posing or Shaping tab. Don't get too fixated on "this must be a pose, and that must be a shape", they're all parameters (and will all show in different subsections of the Parameters tab).
